Yelp's Sausage Fest At The Wurst Bar
This week, Detroit Elite Yelpers packed into the newly opened Wurst Bar in Ypsilanti for one heckuva Sausage Fest!
Elites and their guests dined on a complimentary three course feast of the fine offerings from the Wurst Bar’s menu including their pimento cheese dip served with pretzel bread as an appetizer followed by a choice of either a spicy Italian veggie sausage, a PBR poached pork brat, or the spicy rattlesnake chorizo (yes, you read that right! Rattlesnake!) served up on a brioche bun. As if that weren’t enough these wursts also came with a side of mixed sweet and regular tater tots. To cool things down guests were also offered sweet treat compliments of the kitchen—house made mochi. Delish!
When you’ve got a feast such as that you’ve got to whet your whistle. Enter Rebel Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky who was on hand to give folks tasting on (or off) the rocks or, for fancier sippers, a complimentary Manhattan station which had folks singing the praises of both Kentucky and NYC. For those extra thirsty the Wurst Bar also offered up tasty pop in cold glass bottles as well as a selection of fine Michigan beers at the bar.
Yelpers at this sausage fest had to work for their supper as they interviewed one another to find out their answers to age old questions as,“what’s the best pizza in the Detroit area?” and, “what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever eaten?” Folks who completed their questionnaires were then entered into a drawing to win some fabulous prizes including a Bizarre Foods DVD/book prize pack and a home sausage making kit (congrats to Dave P and Scott C for winning)! But even if they didn’t take home the big prizes, everyone left a winner—happily full and with some new yelper bffs in tow!
Of course we couldn’t put together an amazing night like this alone--many thanks to Jesse and the incredible staff at the Wurst Bar for churning out such an incredible evening of food and fun. Thanks to Carrie and Rebel Reserve for supplying the tasty libations, Jordan G for manning check-in and being an all around fantastic helper, Doug Coombe for the fabulous photography (all of which you can see here), and last, but not certainly least, our extraordinary elites who are always so awesome and game for anything (including eating venomous reptiles).
Want to see more? Peep the reviews here (and if you were there, don’t forget to write your own!), and all photos from the evening can be found here.
Until our next fabulous soiree, SYOY!
