The Capital of Yelp Elite Party at The Capital Grille in Minneapolis!

Posted by Annie D

Not only was Monday a great day to celebrate our founding fathers, but it was also a great day to be an Elite in the Twin Cities! Why? The Capital Grille invited the Minneapolis-St. Paul Elite Squad for an unforgettable event.

Yelpers noshed on bites from The Capital Grille's new Plates lunch menu—as well as a few tasty surprises. The spread included tenderloin sliders, lobster rolls, lamb lollipops, truffle fries, roasted red pepper bisque and spicy calamari. Amanda W says, "Those sliders? The absolute tops. I had to limit myself to one, but I couldn't believe all the flavor that was packed in the mushroom sauce. I want them all day, e'ry day."

As if that weren't enough, the chef offered up an incredible chilled seafood bar of lobster, crab claws, shrimp and oysters... ON A YELP ICE SCULPTURE! Oh, did we mention they brought out trays of fresh-baked cookies at the end? Well, they did and they were amazing.

The Capital Grille's sommelier and beverage manager were both on hand to educate guests about the Spanish red and white wines being served, as well as the Stoli Doli signature cocktail (made with infused pineapple vodka) and the fizzy housemade grapefruit soda. Megan W learned that "there are four different levels of sommelier-ship you can achieve and The Capital Grille employs one of only 170 Master Sommeliers in the world." In the world.

Executive Chef Jeff Ansorge also treated the yelpers to a meat and grilling workshop, where he shared tips on choosing cuts at the grocery store or butcher shop and his expertise on cooking the perfect steak. Mariel L says, "I felt like we were watching an episode of Good Eats live; I'm glad to know the difference between a Delmonico and a ribeye without having to go to Wikipedia."

From the free valet to the parting gift bags full of porcini spice rub and lunch gift certificates for two, The Capital Grille pulled out all the stops and we can't thank them enough for their generosity. The service put the icing on the cake for Ryan P: "Each employee was like an ambassador for the restaurant and did everything possible to make the evening amazing."

George Washington couldn't tell a lie, and neither can the Yelp Elites, so if you wanna read more, check out their five-star reviews of the event and learn more about the Elite Squad. The photos by the talented Emmerlee Photography are all up on Flickr now too!

Until next time,
Annie D.
