Yelp's Korean-der Consumption at Anju

Yelp Calgary Elites and guests wiped away their wintry blues with a feast focalizing on a fusion of flavours from local Korean hot-spot, Anju (which also doubles as the Korean word for small plates consumed with alcohol). Mixing and mingling in this house-turned-resto, darling drinks flowed to bluesy tunes.

The carefully curated cocktails on the menu included a Matcha Green-tini, Jak Sarang, Crown Jewel and Not So Blue Monday. While Jenn D enjoyed "sampling all the drinks,” Carol K concluded the Jak Sarang (peach schnapps, cran and aloe juice) was “so refreshing.”

Crystal E came away most impressed by the curiously concocted edible creations from Chef Roy Oh: “Every food sample was bursting with flavour and there was plenty to go around. Spare rib rolls, prawns, fried tofu, pull pork grilled cheese sandwiches, fingerling potatoes, and the divine crème brûlée... all fantastic!” Not to mention being “blown away” by the Saewoo Twigim (panko breaded prawn tempura with gochugaru aioli). And Linda C thought the venue was “just the right size–intimate and a nice place to chill and meet my fellow yelpers!”

Anju final

The evening was topped off with an Asian candy buffet while guests were treated to soothing sounds from local R&B and Jazz artist Joanna Borromeo, who makes a regular appearance at Anju every Wednesday night, and creatively captured with photos from Ted Kim of The Mou Studio.

"There's something really special and unique in this restaurant.” You said it Erin D!
