Yelp’s Flock Party At The Houston Zoo
It was one wild night in H-town, as 700 yelpers descended upon the Houston Zoo for the biggest party of the season – Yelp's Block Flock Party!
The animal action kicked off November 30th in conjunction with the Zoo’s young supporters group, Flock. The Kipp Aquarium and Carruth Natural Encounters exhibit set the backdrop for this fall fabulous evening, with beats from DJ Seduction and DJ Scoop bumpin’ up the sound waves. As some took to the dance floor, others turned to Saint Arnold Brewing Company and their pours of Christmas Ale, Lawnmower and Santo beers; Crispin Cider also cooled those thirsty palates with their pear and apple varieties. And with the slight winter chill, many o’ yelpers happily sipped on steaming hot cider concocted with Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka, bubbling Deep Eddy Vodka eggnog, smooth tastings from Brugal Rum and rich hot chocolate and coffees courtesy of Java Pura Coffee Roasters.
The crowd got to witness live feedings during the exclusive Elite/Flock member VIP hour, but the Zoo’s furry friends weren’t the only ones to feast. Some of H-town's best eateries served up bold bites! Party-goers noshed on nibbles provided by Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen, Calliope's Po-Boy, The Chelsea Grill, El Greco Grill, Fonda Santa Rosa, and Hungry's Café & Bistro. For a dose of sugar to keep the crowd going, a special dessert suite housed pastries courtesy of Nothing Bundt Cakes, Ruggles Café Bakery and Shipley Do-Nuts. How's that for a taste of the town?
When music, beverage and bites weren’t enough, the crowds were also able to interact with some of the Zoo’s hottest animal ambassadors; pose with Momentum Audi rides; Nail Mogul’s talented team dazzled nails with animal prints and one-minute manis; and White Salon & Skincare Center's stylish entourage livened locks with hair feathering. This was certainly one wild night for the books! With the generous donations received at the door, more than $5,800 was raised directly for Flock!
