In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Yelp East Bay threw down for an epic pink-themed affair at the picturesque bayside BoilerHouse Restaurant in Richmond. East Bay Yelp Elites braved the windy and rainy weather, and sported their finest pink for the occasion. From floral pink hats, to fuzzy pink pajamas, to stylish pink fedoras, to sassy pink wigs, and dapper pink ties - all attendees embraced the theme in creative ways. Troy M loved the theme, and said "how could I not give fives stars to any event that lets me wear my pink tie AND brand new, fluorescent pink Chucks?"
The BoilerHouse Restaurant, housed in the Craneway Pavilion, is a unique venue that is all about environmental sustainability when it comes to all of the essential ingredients in their food. Their view from inside the restaurant unmatched - with a stunning panoramic glimpse of the Bay.
Guests last night, were treated to a constantly replenished assortment of savory bites from BoilerHouse including Niman Ranch Beef Crostini with Salsa Verde and Shaved Parmesan, Golden Gear Farm Gazpacho with Persian Cucumbers and Gypsy Peppers, Buttermilk Boneless Buffalo Wings, Ceasar Salad Bites, as well as Prosciutto Pizza with Caramelized Onions and Arugula. Constance C loved the organic Niman Ranch beef crostini and gushed that the "prosciutto and arugula pizza, was by far one of the best-tasting pizzas she's ever had," adding, "And that says a lot seeings as I've had THE best in Italy." Akvile H raved that the "Buttermilk Boneless Chicken Wings were "her favorite", and if they were the only item on their normal menu, she would come there as much as possible just so she could eat some more of them.
In addition to BoilerHouse's appetizer bites, Galaxy Desserts brought tantalizing all natural mango and chocolate mousse bites. Everyone said that the mango mousse tasted just like fresh mango. Plumeria Flours were on hand with stunning white chocolate covered oreos, pink white chocolate popcorn, as well as hibiscus caramels. Yelpers couldn't get enough of the decadent popcorn. BoilerHouse also ran with the pink theme and even had soft spun pink cotton candy for attendees. Talk about a sugar high!
To compliment the wealth of circulating bites throughout the place, were some fun libations. Wente wines brought 4 great wines for yelpers to sample, and their refreshing limited edition pink rose was a big hit. BoilerHouse satiated everyone's drink palates with Spiked Pink Lemonade as well as Rosie's Shipyard Ale. Throughout the evening, everyone commented on how personable the BoilerHouse bartenders and staff were. There was definitely an abundance of strong delicious drinks and fabulous food in the lively space.
Since the East Bay hasn't had a Yelp Elite in a little while, the pink clad room was excited to catch and meet up with old and new friends. Yelpers were snapping pictures left and right, all while jamming to the musical mixology from Matt the Katt who even masterfully weaved in some Prince and Beatles into set. Everyone gathered around his DJ area, as Kim D and Marcus N were announced as "Most Creative Pink" and "Pinkest Pink", respectively, and both walked away with exciting tickets to Gourmet East Bay.
Everyone had a fabulous time and the best part was that the event raised funds and brought awareness to the fantastic local non-profit Breast Cancer Connections. The event gave Bill B an excuse to wear his "garishly loud, vintage Hawaiian shirt, bought back in the 50s, that he inherited from his grandfather," and introduced Akvile H to "beautiful view out by the water, great food, and friendly staff." She can't wait to return for dinner!
