After a weekend spent indoors due to Hurricane Irene's wrath, elite yelpers were anxious to get out – even if that meant getting schooled a bit. Monday night's Yelp Lab: The Science of Happy Hour at Adsum taught yelpers that chemistry can be fun, especially when it comes to mixing cocktails.
Stationary nibbles including pickled veggies, edamame and house-made chips and dip were waiting to greet hungry guests arriving after a long day at work. On tap at the bar? Magners Cider, house wines and Stoli you-call-its. Despite being an elite-only party, it took no time at all for everyone to meet up with friends, new and old.
Butlered snacks like buttery grilled cheese with Brie and figs, fried chicken and coleslaw and meatloaf with crispy polenta kept bellies happy. Brad P even accomplished a life goal by being able to eat mac n' cheese out of little spoons.
To prevent being blinded with science, Yelp sunglasses were distributed in lieu of goggles. I'm happy to report there were no mishaps with any Bunsen burners.
Big huge yelpy thanks to Kar and the staff at Adsum, who kept the party rolling right along, even butlering around shots towards the end of the event. Thanks also to Magners Cider and Stoli for donating product.
