Yes, Ma'am! Columbus Yelp's Got Glam!
Donning their glitziest attire, more than 300 Columbus yelpers came out to COSI for the city's biggest Yelp blowout to date – the YELP GLAM JAM!
"COSI after dark was a fantastic venue," comments Julie P. "Seriously, it's like I was living out my if I become a millionaire kid fantasy. I got to wear pretty dresses, have someone do my hair, ride on a Segway, have lots of animal friends, eat chocolate cake, be an astronaut in space, and play with dry ice and water cannons all day!" Meanwhile, Liz M made a b line straight to the booze sponsored by Watershed Distillery, Camelot Cellars, MillerCoors and Superior Beverage Group. "Kudos to Watershed for pouring their really delicious vodka into those Sungold Cocktails and hats off to Camelot whose wine just keeps getting better," she chimes. Honest Tea and Pepsi offered complimentary refreshments for those who were caught workin' it on the dance floor by tunes from DJ Fierce Tease.
Providing a ginormous spread of diverse light bites and desserts, 11 food sponsors brought their best goods. Sarah H was so floored she asked, "Why, oh, why did I eat dinner before this event? I've never seen such an amazing and diverse spread at any event I've ever been to! Seriously, pulled pork, vegan indian food, baked goods, middle eastern snacks, iced tea, spinach artichoke dip (OM NOM), ice cream…"
Satisfying the savory side of things, Banana Leaf, City Barbeque, Lexi's On Third, Mazah Mediterranean Eatery and COSI's in-house catering company, Sudexo, provided a great base for the sweet tastes from Angry Baker, Graeter's Ice Cream, Sugardaddy's Sumptuous Sweeties, LÄRABAR and Tehku Tea. A special shout out goes to Leslie's Creperie who showed up anyway to hand out coupons despite the crippling effects the heat/humidity had on their crepes. Above all, Gary K "really enjoyed chatting with the vendors. What a great way to meet the business owners – when they have nothing but time to visit and brag about their wonderfully sinful creations! My list of places to eat at just got bigger," he noted.
For those who wanted to bump their own glam factor up a notch, stylists from Nurtur the Salon and Phia Salon offered on-site mini service stations with polish changes, hair tinsel, face gems, fake eyelashes and hand/arm massages! Lyndsey M knew it was a good night since she "came home with fuscha hair tinsel and neon pink fingernails."
Capturing all the fun behind the camera, GroovyDoodle Photography took ring light headshots of guests, while The Awesomatic snapped and printed group shots on the spot – see them here! Arguably the star of show, Nina West performed two numbers with her backup dancers and accompanying queens and donated all tips to our charity partner, Dress for Success Columbus. And of course Columbus yelpers love to give back just as much as they love to party! More than $300 and countless much-needed items were donated to Dress for Success! Work it, ya'll!
Tiffany C was right when she thought, "I'm guessing I picked the best Yelp event to hit the east side of the Mississippi in 2011. I don't tread lightly when I say, I had a freakin' blast!"
Well done, friends. Well done. Many thanks to everyone who had a hand in making this a drop-dead, five-star night to remember. If you attended but haven't written a review, you can read and write your own here.
Until the next one,
Christina C

Where can we see more of the Awesomatic photos? The Ely Bros said they'd be available somewhere, but I've seen nothing yet aside from photos scanned by attendees.

We haven't got them back yet, Luke. But when we do, you'll know. ;)
