Yelp Eye Opener at Insomnia Cafe

Posted by Vivek S

Last Sunday, Toronto Elite yelpers wandered through the hot city streets to gather for the Yelp Eye Opener at Insomnia Cafe. The theme was hangover chic and with a four o'clock start, yelpers whiled away the lazy afternoon with their elite compadres while nursing the remnants of the previous nights' activities. Chris P who visited Insomnia for the first time noted,"it's a great cozy-feeling bar with lots of standing and sitting room, making it perfect for mingling."

A little hair of the dog had yelpers's tongues wagging. Krombacher Beer was the afternoon's premium brew, featured in a killer mimosa. Guests also got to sample a tangy Caesar made with a ginger infused Skyy Vodka that impressed Dishan W: "they managed to whip up a mean little monster with enough olives to satisfy! And damn fine mimosa as well." For the oenophiles in the crowd, Two Oceans sauvignon blanc and cab/merlot kept their wheels turning.

There was no shortage of snacks that afternoon, as Insomnia brought an array of their favourite menu items in bite-sized nibbles. "The food was delicious, from mini pizzas, to crab cakes, to the trio dips, to the hot-off-the-press sweet tater fries," Yvonne T tried it all and "everything came out piping hot."

And best of all? Elites got to walk away with a piece of Summer Schwag. "Those new sunglasses are going to totally become our calling card," notes Roma M. "Yeah, that's right. See the shades? That means you've been yelped, *%@!&!" Easy there...

A special thanks to the staff of Insomnia, managers Adam and Jason and owner Daniel for accomodating Toronto's Elite Squad so beautifully. Thanks again to Krombacher, Skyy Vodka and Two Oceans, and to Joe H for beautiful event photography. You can view the party album here and read reviews at this link!

Until the next one. Keep cool, yelpers!

Terrible service. Waited over an hour for our food after we were seated. The servers didn't even refill the coffee. The food was good, but not worth the wait.
