Yelp St. Louis’ Best Catch @ Miso!

Posted by Aimee

On Tuesday night, St. Louis’ fabulous Elites got together at Miso on Meramec, a sushi restaurant in the Clayton neighborhood that happens to have an incredible downstairs lounge perfect for a sushi-themed Elite bash.

Trisha Tix Schwag

Between the dimly lit lights, the Japanese movies playing on the flat-screens (think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and the “Did You Know?” sushi facts on the tables, we were ready for an evening of Asian culture and mingling with both old and new faces.

Miso generously provided delicious eats for the party, including veggie spring rolls, pork pot stickers, a new sushi roll and a signature roll the chefs crafted up called the Yelp Roll. The signature drink known as the Lemon Yelper was flowing from behind the bar all night, and was a delicious blend of Lemon Sorrento vodka and sweet and sour, garnished with a lemon. Talk about electrifying!

Sushi

Food Drink

After trying to handcrafted sushi, yelpers got to try it themselves at the Candy Sushi-making table! Using rice krispie treats as rice, they rolled up gummi bears, sour worms, jelly beans, and Swedish fish, wrapped the rolls in fruit roll-ups, and sliced them up into bite-sized pieces. Some were true sushi afficionados... some, on the other hand, need a little more practice. Regardless, every roll tasted delicious!

To top off the evening, yelpers stepped into the photobooth and had a little too much fun playing dress-up and getting into character. It's safe to say that St. Louis Elites aren't exactly shy for the camera!

Group2 Group3 Group4

Most importantly, on Tuesday night we raised over $300 to be donated to the Red Cross Japanese Relief Efforts. Way to come together to make a difference! Big thanks to Miso on Meramec for graciously hosting and providing wonderful food & drinks, Serendipity for giving us the delicious bon-bons to pass around, Brea Photography for the gorgeous photos, and everyone who came out to be a part of such a great night. Yelp's Rat Pack Rendezvous!

Posted by Nicole W

Picture a stunning atmosphere, low lighting, delicious Italian bites, wonderful services and plenty of bevvies to go around - all set to the smooth tunes of Dean Martin. Yes, this was Yelp Charlotte's Rat Pack Rendezvous at Vivace and everyone made sure to clean up nice!

Vivace1 Vivace2

Elites were treated to gorgeous Uptown views from Vivace's upstairs patio complete with arancini (fried rice balls), agnolotti, pizza, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate truffles and more. The spread was never ending and as Tim G put it plainly, "The prosciutto was fresh, the rice balls were top of the line. The food, drinks and desserts were fit for a king." Perfetto!

Food1 Vivace 080 Vivace 079

To properly wash down all those tasty bites, the wonderful folks at Palm Bay International poured the most delectable wine from Bertani and Feudi di San Gregorio, the red choices being Feudi Primitivo and Bertani Valpolicella, the whites Feudi Falanghina and Bertani Due Uve. But the imbibing didn't stop there, MillerCoors providing a plethora of Italia's finest beer - Peroni. Brian K "made sure to try all four great wines and cap it off with a Peroni!" What a superb selection!

But the evening wouldn't be complete without rat pack pro, Larry Tanelli, performing as our very own Dean Martin. Not only did he set the mood by serenading the ladies, posing for pictures, but he also invoked our very own yelpettes (Melissa B & Peggy C) to start up a kickline mid-song!

What Are You Looking At Elites?

Posted by Vivek S

On Tuesday night, Yelp Toronto's wide-eyed Elite Squad gathered together to answer the question: "what are you looking at?" by donning their dancing shoes, some hipster sunglasses and meeting at —where else— What Are You Looking At nightclub and lounge in Leslieville.

Wayla_blog01

The east-end venue took a little travelling, but it was well worth it for peeps like Tony F. "I'm glad Yelp has come back to the East Siiyeeeed." The long and narrow space let elites old and new mingle and get their Yelp on!

Wayla_blog02

Down-the-street caterers Loic Gourmet doled out delicious and decadent vittles that evening. The roasted Pear wrapped In Niagara prosciutto with toasted walnuts was definitely a hit. Payam Z "had a fun time trying to guess what was inside before we finally unravelled the treat!"

Picnik collage
And what would an elite party be without eye-popping drinks? Tony F was "happy to have Carlsberg as the beer of choice," and Absolut Vodka played a starring role in the night's signature cocktail, "The Look." Jennifer M unquestionably felt the drink's boozy and bittersweet gaze: "those cocktails were serious. That was no lackluster punch. Wheew!"

  Wayla_blog04

It's not an optical illusion: there were glow-sticks to single out newbies, glow-wand battles, an ice-breaking frog hat: it was a spectacle. There was also a door-prize raffle as a special bonus for the guests. Karen S had her eye on the grand prize: "Donkey Kong Jenga is going to be a lot of fun at our next girls' night!"

As the night rolled on, it became harder to resist the stylings of DJ Sumation who dutifully spun solid beats. Steph L's focus was on the "old school classics that kept us grooving all night!" First-time Elite partier Lara P took note: "I will be better prepared next time and make sure to wear my dancing shoes!"

Wayla_blog05

Many thanks to Chris, Michelle and Israel of Wayla Lounge, Loic Gourmet, Absolute Vodka, Carlsberg beer and to Vai Yu Law for the event photography. Not to mention of course, Toronto's remarkable Elite Squad for always being willing to rock out on a Tuesday night!

Glasgow Butchershop Bourbon Bash

Posted by Chris Docherty

Another month, another meating for the most useful, funny and cool Glasgow Elite members who found themselves herded into The Butchershop Bar & Grill on a spring(ish) evening. 30 plus Yelpers crammed into the New Yorkesque hot spot in Kelingrove for a spot of bourbon tasting, grub grabbing (we do love 'em haggis balls!) and general chit + chat: 'Oh hey, you look a lot bigger than your profile picture!'

Butchershop1

After milling, meeting and checking the meat weighing device hung on the wall for the time (I am the anti-Sheen... not winning), the tasting began in ernest. Do we know what bourbon is? Is Rye different from bourbon? Can we have another please? The answer to all of these questions, well apart from the last one, were provided by the engaging Gordon from Eaux de Vie. Showing off three bourbons from the Heaven Hill Distillery, Gordon treated us to the different flavours and identities of Ewan Williams, Old Fitzgerald (not Ella) and Rittenhouse Rye.

Butcher2
With the assistance of Nicola (or was it Susan?) from the Butchershop, yelpers sniffed, swirled and gulped down an eye opening wee collection of the amber nectre from across the pond. Never a bunch to hold back, our group fired comments, questions and just a slight hint of banter at our expert Gordon.

Butcher3
But wait! Where are the nibbles? Where are the pictures of the short lived yum worthy treats that our hosts provided? Easy now people, they're on the way!

Butcher4
And that folks, wraps 'er up for another month. Once again, it was great to see all the regualar faces, fantastic to meet the new folks in person (put a handshake to the face) and generally have a good wee night out. My special thanks go out to The Butchershop Bar and Grill for hosting us on the night, to the wonderful Lizzie F for taking these superb photo-ma-graphs and to my newly aquired intern Jessie D for taking the micky out of me at every opportunity.

Feel like checkin' out ra photos from the night?

Where you there? Have you shared your thoughts?

Join in the chatter

Muchos love folks, see you on Yelp.

Yelps's Bliss@The Albus Hotel & Senses Restaurant

Posted by Sanneke

BAM! The first Yelp Amsterdam Elite Event was a big triumphant blast! The new Elites and their special guests excitedly entered Senses Restaurant. On their faces one could read the questions spinning through their brains. What am I going to do? Who will I meet? What is this Elite Event? Oh why did I come?  The Senses team welcomed them with a warm smile and a lovely glass of bubbles and right at that first sip, these questions were answered...Red faces turned in the chill mode and they directly knew they were in good hands: Yelp's Bliss

Presentation1

The Amsterdam Elite Squad started with a sit down dinner with lots of super delicious wine.  The service, the food and the entourage were fantastic! New friendships were born while chewing on some Pata Negra. Ahh the softness of the meat and the crispy fresh bite of rocket salad made us all realise how lucky we were. After the glasses were filled again, and the very passionate business owner of The Albus revealed his secrets to us, we got served AGAIN! This time a crispy topped catfish screamed: " eat me, eat me". So we did. While licking our finger tops, we were escorted to the bar of The Albus, the Design hotel of Amsterdam. Italian unique design like you have never seen before.

Presentation1-2

Due to the large group of Yelpers we were separated for the second half of the evening. Accompanied by the very lovely Joost some of us got the Grand Tour of The Albus while others were enjoying the Grand Dessert. The men of our gang were very much impressed by the High-end Technological gadgets found in all of the hotel rooms. The feminine bunch got more excited about the free Nespresso machines and the cosiness. We all gathered back at the bar and enjoyed the open bar for quite a while

Presentation1-1

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, same for this wonderful, The amazing team of Senses Restaurant and The Albus gave all the guests a genderized GOODIE BAG! Yes yes we got it all!  With a large smile all yelpers left the building. The locations, the great attitude of the staff and the excited Yelpers made the title of this event, honestly: Senses of Bliss, Yelp's Bliss!

Presentation1-3

Major thanks for the magnificent staff of Senses Restaurant en The Albus Hotel!

Many thanks to all of the remarkable, fun and shiny Yelpers! This promises a bright Yelp Elite future, I am scared ;) Read the Yelp reviews of the first Yelp Amsterdam Elite Event!

Yelp Circles the World Without Leaving the Triangle

Posted by Christina Gates

"This was the best Monday night out I've had in a looooong time," declares Rachel E. Why? Because Yelp "rocked this party! buku provided delicious tapas and bites. And New Belgium, you had me at beer." Triangle Elites packed their bags, never mind the unseasonably cold March: We were gearing up for a tasty world tour courtesy of our friends at buku! With resort chic, tacky Hawaiian, French couture, and ski bunny style all represented, it looked like some of us may have gotten a little lost en route...

Event-29 Event-11 Booth-2

But connections in Japan, the Mediterranean, and South America were the talk of the travelers. buku did us way better than a pack of airplane peanuts -- with three stations sumptuously spread, we feasted on hummus, cheeses, garnachas, pibil, tamales, sushi, and more. The amazing airline attendants (ie, buku's stellar staff!) answered questions about the food, constantly replinished, and even made the rounds taking guests' drink orders -- all while donning festively themed hats in honor of the South American station! Says Melissa E, "The food! It was awesome! In my husband's words, 'This is the best food I've eaten in a while.'  Wait a minute -- what about my cooking?!" Guess that calls for a date night at buku, Melissa!

Food-1 Food-7 Food-12

And what about the mile-high hops? "New Belgium kept us buzzing through the clouds with" four different "in-flight beverages, which included a couple of new brews I haven't run across yet (the Trippel was great)," reports Tripp W. And Julia H raves, "The beers were an excellent complement to the foods served and delicious in their own right."

Everyone loves a road-side attraction, and with DJ Triple B mixing it all night, and Shon Digital Photography snapping cheesy photo ops, our trip was full of hot entertainment! Yelpers even sent postcards home to friends and family to share their travel tales... and 5 super-lucky peeps scored with our souvenier door-prizes: a pair of tickets to Shrek the Musical, opening night, or to the All Dolled Up pampering event in Raleigh.

At the end of a vacation, it's always hard to go home, but Kuanyu C surmises "The best part of the evening has got to be meeting all the cool people that I have only met in words, but not in person. I also received my badge of honor: the coveted Yelp lunchbox (and I am totally taking that thing to work tomorrow!)."

Way more snapshots for your scrapbooking available here, thanks to the tremendously talented Shon. Make sure to read up on everyone's travel-log, and start planning your own trip to buku!

Until next time, SYOY!

Yelp Gets Pie-Eyed And Cures What Ales You, At The Hop!

Posted by Rowena Harris

The fortuitous April weather was merely just the start of a fabulous evening, as the day dawned on the next electrifying chapter of Elite Event goodness in Leeds, and gently hazed into eve. Rather than springing into April showers, yelpers arrived in the almost Spanish sunshine as dusk approached the Yelp Cures What Ales You Elite Event at The Hop, situated under the atramentous and inspiring Dark Arches of Leeds.

The Hop Elite Event 1

*Pictures 1 and 4 taken from Eleanor Snare

As folks began to pile in, assembling in the specially designated VIP area under one of the railway arches, the anticipation began to grow. Wild speculation began as to which delights would be sampled, whilst the remainder of the Elites arrived and had a good old natter and a mingle.

To open the event Tom Baker, manager of The Hop, ascended to the space ready to begin the proceedings. After several trips to transport the most generous samplings upstairs, Tom gave a brief introduction to the Ossett Brewery, detailing its history and growth from where it began to where it is today. Following on from that, tasting notes, and the beer 'cyclops' no less, were handed amongst attendees to introduce our initial tipple of the evening; the Yorkshire Blonde.

The Hop Elite Event 2

As folk started to sup their most-benevolent half pint tasters, the next samples were hand-pulled, giving ample opportunity for chats and giggles. In a flash the next liberal lashings of ale half-pints were transported upstairs, this time the Pale Gold, and before long the tables were overflowing with fabulous beers. Whilst many a-yelper tried out the sniff-and-sample method to discern the delicate ingredients, for the most part it became about the quaffing and the socialising!

The Hop Elite Event 3

Following on from the tastings came a most abundant feast of pie. Each yelper was gifted an entire pie, complete with a veritable embankment of creamy mashed potato, stockpile of mushy peas and more gravy than you could float a boat with. As folk lined up to collect their bounty, in an impressively orderly queue, the delicious smell of Rhubarb and Pork and Chicken and Black Pepper pies, to name but a few, wafted through the air. Then came the familiar sounds of satisfaction and mastication, as everyone began to tuck into their tea - some lucky few even re-visiting to dispatch a second pie!

The Hop Elite Event 4

As if that wasn't enough ruddy fun, The Hop bestowed one final half-pint sampler on all the guests, just in time for the finalé of the evening: The Pub Quiz. Whilst everyone enjoyed their Big Red ales, quiz teams were assembled readied for a session of general knowledge, current affairs, picture rounds and more in the Yelp Cures What Ales You pub quiz. As well as learning such delightful facts, as to the etymology of the word 'Avacado' and which city in the UK was the first to introduce the electric street lamps, yelpers enjoyed a silly and social end to the evening. All props go to the winning team, for their fabulous victory, pipping the runners up to the post by a single point. As well as the pride of the win, one lucky yelper from the winners took home the magnificent prize of a Leeds Rhinos Jacket.

The Hope Elite Event 5

Fully pied, fully pinted and fully privy to such erudite wisdom, a few stayed on to savour the remaining ambiance and a post-elite pint, as others left on their merry way. A huge thanks goes out to Tom Baker, The Hop and the Ossett Brewery for not only being generous hosts but for being so utterly lavish to boot. A massive thanks also goes out to Matthew Kitchen, for his wonderful photographs of the night, which can be viewed here on the official Flickr. Don't just take my word for it though! For the complete lowdown, straight from the yelpers mouths and local blogger Eleanor Snare: look here and here for the reviews already coming in!

The Hop Elite Event 6

'Hats off to Yelp and The Hop for a most generous tasting session. We got to help ourselves to a pie and lashings of mash, mushy peas and gravy, awesome; I'm a real sucker for pie and peas with extra mint sauce. I love ale, but I'm no connoisseur, so it was handy to have some tasting notes on hand too. All in all a great event and I will definitely go back to The Hop for beer and pie!' - Benjamin W

And until next time, I'll see you on the Yelp side. (Pie-eyed and fancy-free!)

Yelps's Bliss@The Albus Hotel & Senses Restaurant

Posted by Sanneke

BAM! Presentation1

Senses of Bliss, Yelp's Bliss!

Presentation1-3

Yelp Kansas City's Electric Park

Posted by Joi

Thursday night saw the revival of Electric Park, a Kansas City Amusement Park from 100 years ago, thanks to Yelp KC's very first open party at the River Market Event Place

  EP_flowers  Photo by DanielH  EP_swag

Over 300 of Kansas City's finest yelpers came out decked in their finest carny chique. As they awaited admission, they admired the lovely floral ferris wheel, courtesy of Village Gardens Florists and learned about our evening's beneficiary, Midwest Music Foundation.

EP_crowd2 EP_crowd3 EP_BeauW

Once past the admission gates, they were encouraged to imbibe curious cocktail creations courtesy of those invited by the Kansas City Bartender's Alliance. The Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange, Manifesto, Westport Café & Bar whipped up drinks made with Tito's Handmade Vodka and High Plains Distillery/Most Wanted spirits. Those guests who wanted a more chill ride appreciated Crispin Cider, Weston Brewing Company, America's Outlaw Beer and PBR. Members of the Kansas City Elite Squad experienced a wine tasting provided by Ionia Atlantic Imports in the Elite lounge overlooking the magical midway

Yelpers relished a variety of carny-inspired cuisine from The Magical Meatball Tour, (a circusy mobile meatball contraption coming soon), vegetarian frito pie from The Brick, chili from Knuckleheads Saloon (located on the hallowed grounds the the original Electric Park once thrived), chicken wings good enough for the Man Eating Chicken and all kinds of flavored popcorn from Shining Stars Catering. Sweet treats worthy of the finest concession stand in dreamland came from Mud Pie Vegan Bakery and Little Lulu's Confections. Those wishing for the rush of a roller coaster visited the CoffeeCakeKC truck parked outside the venue for espresso drinks and yet more desserts, for what trip to the amusement park is complete without maximum indulgence?

Yelpers were able to also partake in a variety of amusements and oddities: tunes from The Threes, Emily Frost and Erin Murmadame, The Latenight Callers, along with an aerial spectacle by Voler, Thieves of Flight throughout their set.  DJ Sheppa cranked out the tunes all night. There were all kinds of souvenir photo experiences from three different photo booths, including Shutter Booth. Who didn't want a stack of one hundred bills with their picture on it from Star Based Projects? For those who preferred a more old school approach, M/E studios revived the antique photo booth with a variety of accoutrements for that vintage bling. There were real, live Mermaid sightings as well thanks to Carolyn Turgeon and her mysterious finned assistant.

Be sure and read the reviews. Here's an excerpt from one of our favorites from Nancy K: "Fun does not even describe the times that were had that night. Philly Elites at Beer is Better

Posted by Michelle C

In part one of a two part Elite Event where Philly yelpers got to choose between beer or wine-themed parties, beer reigned supreme. Hawthornes, one part growler and bottle shop/one part gourmet eatery, was the perfect place to spend a crisp Sunday night. As the fireplace roared, yelpers got toasty and toasted with Left Hand Brewery's Fade to Black, Long Trail Brewing Company's IPA and Victory Headwaters Ale.

H1 H2 H3
Tasty noms including housemade chips with creamy onion dip, pita with hummus, turkey, brie & apple quesadillas and tuna salad on baguette were served. Blake F was an instant fan of the "highly addictive" French toast sticks with strawberry coulis, and plans to forgo her "usual inclination for savory" to instead opt for sweet on her next brunch visit.

H4 H5 H6
Dan from Left Hand Brewing was on hand to talk beer and answer any questions, which yelper Vinny P and his plus one were eager to do as they received "hefty pours" at the growler station.

H7 H8 H9
Best of all? At the end of the night, yelpers were able to purchase brews to-go at the bottle shop. Karen B mixed her own six and Christopher R put it best by saying, "you gotta love an event where you can leave with an insane build-your-own craft beer six pack after the open bar gravy train has run its course.

H10 H12 H11
Huge thanks to the staff at Hawthornes for welcoming us with open arms. Peep the pics that Erika Letitia snapped here, and check out the glowing reviews and the official talk thread for the event, while you're at it.

Now excuse me, I have a Ballast Point Sculpin to crack open.

San Antonio Elites Suck Head and Bite Tail At Luke!

Posted by Krys Theilen

120 San Antonio Yelp Elites gathered on the Riverwalk at Luke San Antonio for a good ole fashioned, N'awlins-style crawfish boil! The food didn't stop at mud bugs, Luke put out an incredible spread that just didn't stop. According to Bettina R, "Accompanying the crawfish were sausage links, and super-spicy boiled corn and potatoes. The meat pies (savory empanadas stuffed with chicken liver and ground beef) and fried oysters were real crowd-pleasers!"

The weather was perfect as a breeze blew in from the river, Alamo City yelpers sipped on a fine selection of locally-made libations. Enchanted Rock Vodka provided the hard stuff and served up delicious Moscow Mules and Bloody Mary's to accompany the crawfish. But, the show stealer was brand-new San Antonio "brewstillery" Ranger Creek, the world's only facility brewing both choice craft beer and some mighty, mouthwatering bourbon. Yelpers enjoyed samples of their craft brews, OPA and La Bestia, and found themselves drooling in anticipation of the bourbon – which will be out later this year!

5568583997_74a2330a85 Mark from Ranger Creek La Bestia Tap

The sweet sounds of San Antonio-based singer/songwriter, Sean Palen rocked the house for the first hour of the event and yelpers sang along to his hit tune, "Sean Palen Theme Song." Then, DJ David Staedtler took over and spun some fly Creole zydeco and dance hits that got everyone on their feet dancing! When yelpers weren't rocking out, they were having their faces painted, getting caricatures drawn and enjoying magic tricks from local street performers! Each Elite recieved their very own, one-of-a-kind Yelp mason jars as take homes. And just when you thought there couldn't be any more, Carlos Pena set up his amazing photo booth, where yelpers recieved take-home prints and their images were auto-tweeted to their Twitter handles!

Providence's Kitchen Dreams @ Downcity!

Posted by Briana

Downcity @ 50 Weybosset certainly is a soldier of the restaurant biz: first, rising from the ashes of a crippling fire at their original location to, most recently, making it through the ringer of Chef Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares!

Collage 1

The episode, which aired on March 11th, got a little heated. "You precious, stuck-up little #@$!" accused Ramsey. "Get the $@*#out of my restaurant!" owner Abby Cabral fired back. Check out all the oh-so-passionate exchanges here!

Collage 2
Luckily, after a rocky start, Downcity and Ramsey found their happy place. The owners, staff, and patrons alike love the new menu. We thought that we would put it to a TRUE test: have PVD Yelp Elites weigh in on things!

Yelpers and their guests came out strong to celebrate Downcity's triumphs, mingle with fellow Elites, enjoy a few cocktails and sample all-new appetizer menu co-created with Chef Gordon Ramsey! Samplings included Goat Cheese Truffle Dip, Meatball Sliders, Pork Belly Lettuce Cups, and Beet Cured Salmon.

Collage 4

Yelpers truly enjoyed their experience at Downcity and are excited to return to try the full menu! Many thanks to owners Abby and Rico for their continued willingness take risks in order to get food-lovers writing about their restaurant (check out the reviews from the event here!), our great servers Elonzo and Jason, and to photographer Elizabeth LaRoque who shot a gorgeous selection of photos of the event!

As this was my last official Elite Event as PVD CM, I also just wanted to take a second to shout out how incredibly open, kind, fun, and welcoming the small (but mighty!) PVD Elite Squad is. I am humbled!

Tea & Chill Times

Posted by Annie

Dublin's Yelpers decided to treat their livers this month with some delicious tea. Wall & Keogh, Dublin's newest speciality tea room welcomed the crew with zenned out arms. We filled the place up but what better way to get to know your fellow Yelper then by rubbing your body against them? Frankly no better way in my opinion.

Tea1

Oliver, Tiago & Asia explained to us all about the history of Wall & Keogh and their mission which is to bring you the best fair trade tea and coffee without cutting corners. These folks are passionate about what they do and their knowledge is incredible. Best of all they want to share that knowledge so no question was too silly.

Tea2

Once we learnt about the different types of teas and why some are black teas and some are green etc, everyone found a cosy place to chill and then the tea experience began! We were led on an extensive tour of several diverse teas with extremely different flavours. From the peaty smokey taste of lapsang souchong to the soothing lemon infused rooibos with aloe vera.

Tea3

The Wall & Keogh folks even filled up hot water bottles for us if some Yelpers decided to sit outside in their little tea garden! There is over 150 teas and everyone got very giddy smelling all the different flavours in the large glass jars. By the end of the night there was a lot of tea converts who got their batch of tea to take home and continue the tea love in!

Tea4

Thank you so much to Oliver, Tiago & Asia for being so welcoming and engaging. Please check out the beautiful photos of the event taken by the talented Claire Nash here! Review the event here! And catch up on all the tea gossip here! Till next time, thank you so much for coming out and we will see you on Yelp!

All my best,

Edmonton Elites Celebrate With A Sugar Rush!

Posted by Brittany

It was the very first Yelp Elite Event in Edmonton last night, and the yelpers kicked off their inaugural party at Flirt Cupcakes.  Elites and their guests gathered for an evening of cupcake decorating and tasting, wine drinking, and music grooving!

Yelp+flirt__068Yelp+flirt__012Yelp+flirt__092

The night began with a sneak peek into the Flirt kitchen where all the cupcake magic happens. Yelpers got their hands on vanilla, chocolate and red velvet cakes to decorate with multiple flavours of icing and treats of their choice. As Jessica D puts it, “Last night was a whole new experience. It was sweet delicious and *gasp* butter cream!”

Yelp+flirt__073Yelp+flirt__079

We washed down our sweet treats with Red Stripe Jaimaican Food from Irie Foods and some sweet Cupcake Wine. Packrat Louie added some savouriness to the evening with succulent prawns and crab cakes. Aditya R gushes, “Their crab cakes were the tastiest I've ever had!” These delicious appies definitely didn’t last long once the yelpers got a hold of them.

Yelp+flirt__071Yelp+flirt__019Yelp+flirt__082

With raffle tickets in hand and spontaneous drum rolls at the ready, Crystal H and I had the pleasure of giving away a Cupcake hoodie from Mars and Venus, a gift set from Wild Prairie Soap Company, a bottle of Cupcake Wine, freebies from Flirt, and last but not least, Sister Grey CDs!  Then the local favs took the stage to perform an acoustic set just for us!

Yelp+flirt__108Yelp+flirt__105

Huge thanks to Rick and Michelle from Flirt for making the whole night happen. Make sure to check out all the delicious reviews of the evening and peruse through some snaps of the night taken by photographer extraordinaire and fellow cupcake-lover Jeff Nelson.

Tucson Elites Ring In Spring At The Vernal Yelpinox

Posted by Corey Dane

Ah, spring…it’s the season of rebirth, breezy temps, and if you were one of the lucky 75 that made it out to the Vernal Yelpinox, you know spring’s arrival is something to celebrate!

Farm_Cart_logo General_1_logo Juice_logo
Pasco Kitchen and Lounge was the perfect spot to ring in the new season and celebrate the largest moon our skies have seen in 18 years! Boasting farm fresh food that’s as local as local gets in Tucson, owner and executive chef Ramiro Scavo, along with owner and wife to be Kelly Hadd and general Manager Andrew Record, put together a special spread that had yelpers yearning for more. Beef tacos with fresh veggies and sprinkles of gouda and mini burgers paired with their signature cocktail the Father Kino flew off the farm cart faster than a three-legged race! On the other side of the patio, chef Scavo smoked BBQ chicken wings and plated them along side a zippy spring slaw, cheddar biscuit and grits. Mixology master Andrew paired the smoky eats with a new cocktail yet to make it to the menu, the Fine Herb; European liquors, serrano, dill, scallion, and edible flowers FTW! No meal is complete without something sweet, which is why the gang rolled out a decadent chocolate torte and an apple tart that proved autumn isn’t the only time to taste the season’s pick.

Burgers_logo_2 BBQ_Chx_logo Dessert_1_logo_3
What's a farm party without a little entertainment?! Marni Kennedy and Cam provided terrific tunes on the patio while folks enjoyed the day’s beautiful rays and pleasant temp. Covering music that spanned the decades, their folksy sound was a perfect addition to the farm fresh feel. Some yelpers decided to get in on the action and participated in an urban obstacle course. In addition to an egg race, a ping-pong planter toss, and a coil up a messy hose contest, folks participated in a sack race that had this CM eating dirt (literally fell on my money-maker and hugged concrete!). The top five qualifiers of the obstacle course went head to head, er, uh, mouth to mouth in a pie eating contest that won Anna D dinner for two on a repeat trip!

Chef_logo Yelp_logo Relay_logo
Huge thanks go out to Ramiro, Kelly, Andrew and the entire Pasco staff, who made Sunday such a fun day to gather together to celebrate the season. One of the hippest haps to open up in 2011, they also offer a crop-load of vegan and gluten free offerings that will have people squealin’ “I’m For Farm Fresh” from University Blvd to the Foothills! Thanks to Darbi Davis-Geronov from Red Bark Design for snapping these party pics to help us relive the event on our Facebook page (check back soon for the complete album, and peep her website, she’s doing some killer things…great gardening and landscaping). Relive the experience through others by reading the event reviews! Didn’t get a chance to write one? It’s not too late, it’s still spring! Danny S may have put it best when he yelped, “It would be an understatement to say that this was a great way to spend an afternoon.” We think so too!

Houston Elites Blame Canada!

Posted by Farrah Akhtar

Justin Bieber, Rush and Celine Dion aren't the only Canadian imports to hit the States. Right here in H-town you'll find The Maple Leaf Pub, the city's only pub just for Canucks – and those who love 'em!

On March 22, the Yelp Elite Squad made way to The Maple Leaf Pub to experience the best from our Northern Neighbors. Cold, crisp Molson Canadian filled the bellies of thirsty beer knurds, and as Jeff C puts it: "I never knew I would actually like Canadian beer!" Well how aboot that? For those lookin' to wet their whistles some more, 40 Creek Whisky was on site serving up straight pours (very smooth in taste, we must add), along with the refreshing concotion otherwise known as Maple Leaf's Tundra Tea – Danielle G's "favorite drink of the evening."

The excitement continued with Canadian tunes playing in the background, Canadian bacon pizzas and B-I-N-G-O! Multiple prizes were up for grabs: bar tabs, Houston Aeros tickets, golfing passes and a pair of tickets to Cirque Du Soleil and backstage tour! But believe it or not, the highlight of the night was the surprise appearance and performance by the Houston Aeros dance team – the Aero Dynamics!

Wanna know more, eh? Catch more behind-the-scene stories and photos (courtesy of Mineralblu Photography)! Big thanks to all who came out, along with Yelp Houston's new interns Natalie D and Monique B. And another huge thank you to all of our sponsors, including Olivia B who played an amazing host!

Yelp Nashville Elites Have Swagger!

Posted by Marcia

How fabulous is it to be Elite in Nashville? Pretty dang fabulous!Nashville Elites enjoyed three (yes, three!) exclusive events this week to jumpstart an exciting upcoming Spring season in Music City.

5553049113_a50c37ddac 5553048757_b9e586745f_m

To avoid a case of the "Monday's", a proper Nashville Elite Event:Lunch at 1808 Grille kicked off the festivites as 10 Elites were treated to their first impeccable experience with this fantastic dining establishment. Marilee S adored the sleek and contemporary decor that had a tinge of a "LA feel, but with all the white stoneware displayed, there's a classic edge to it. White table clothes and napkins, soft banquets and comfortable chairs complete the look. High ceilings offer lots of natural light from two sides." Meanwhile foodie Robert S gave major props for his meal, "sublime with seasonal veggies and taste combinations that worked very well.  I had the meat and three which was totally unique, and I would eat it again, except I think I need to try the Masa Cake that everyone else had!"

5553632518_0b4cb54e80

On Tuesday evening, a very gracious 1808 Grille upped the swank factor at our Yelp's Got Swagger cocktail party by greeting us with delicious selections from their impressive wine list and top notch adult beverages. Sarah P couldn't help but appreciate that the "libations were flowing from every corner and let me just take a minute to acknowledge the servers who were on top of our group ensuring everyone had a cocktail and food!" If you were seeking the mini crabcakes and came up empty handed, a guilty Steph H admits, "the food was truly scrumptious--I'm sorry if no one else got to eat the mini crabcakes, because I practically inhaled them whenever they were set down (and I normally don't like crabcakes)!"

I always love to throw a curve ball to my beloved Nashville Elites, so they were treated to opening night tickets to see Tony Award winning musical In The Heights at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center immediately after our shindig! Aaron F relished in his experience,"The TPAC is a beautiful venue and we sat in the orchestra with prime seats!" There was not a bad seat in the house! Newly minted Elite Jess Y sums up the perfromance like best, "the story was raw, it demonstrated the cultural battles of Latin American immigrants, the realities of poverty like theft, vandalism, power outages, the struggle for the "American Dream", and of course, the heat of romance." Who's ready to go see it again?

4x6-InTheHeights

Major thanks to the 1808 Grille staff and especially to General Manager Matt Buttel for offering us such a top notch experience. Bravo to Marya K Peters of Allied Live and TPAC's Marketing Director Mandy Dies for letting us be a part of such a smashing performance! We also can't forget Kristin Wells who captured this delightful evening on lens!

Twin Cities Elites rock out at Yelp's Band Geek Bash in Minneapolis!

Posted by Annie D

Music madness swept downtown Minneapolis as scores of Twin Cities Elites rocked out and geeked out in their favorite concert T-shirts this week for Yelp's Band Geek Bash!

One
The Depot Tavern is the younger brother to First Avenue and the 7th Street Entry—and this music-lover's haven sits right next door to its kin in downtown Minneapolis. Not only can you grab a bite or a beer there before a show, but you can also buy your concert tickets at the bar without all those pesky fees.

Collage2
For the Band Geek Bash, The Depot's incredible staff turned it up to eleven as they rocked palates with their inventive spin on bar food. Elites noshed (and moshed?) on a spread of portabella mushroom sliders, bacon-wrapped Diamond Dog bites, poutine-inspired cheese curd and potato skewers, assorted grilled cheeses and five-spice pork belly spring rolls—which aren't even on the menu yet. Of the culinary creations, Megan W says, "Anything that makes eating cheese curds feel fancier is top-rate in my book." Agreed!

Collage3
The bartenders and servers kept the liquids flowing too, as Elites imbibed on Odell Brewing Co.'s Red Ale (their spring seasonal), Menage e Trois Red and Revel Stoke Whiskey. Yelper Ryan P indulged in the whole set of beverages, dubbing this trifecta of booze "dangerously good."

Elites tested their local music trivia knowledge with a get-to-know-you version of YELP-O. The game included questions like... "What star clearly yells out 'Minneapolis!' in her 1989 single?" Ms. Janet Jackson, of course. And "What Minnesota band had their tour bus stolen on the way to Austin City Limits last year?" That would be our very own super-group, GAYNGS. Some excelled while others struggled, but everybody did quite well... once they all started cheating!

Below: The Squad caught in the act. Cheaters!

Cheating
Bingo cheating aside, these generous party-goers also opened their wallets to a good cause and donated a chunk of change to Doctors Without Borders, an organization that provides medical care to those less fortunate around the world, including earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. If you didn't get a chance to donate at the party, you can do so directly on their website.

Check out the rest of the photos on Flickr by the ever-talented Ryan Siemers of Capture M.O.R. Family & Event Photography! You know you need a new profile picture. And take a look at the reviews of the shindig on Yelp!

Rock on,
Annie D.

Yelp SXSW 2011: Yelp's Skinny Pants Dance

Posted by kelly stocker

Once in a great while, something so epic happens that it's hard to find words. But I'm gonna dig deep into the recesses of my capacities and try and capture the four hour full on madness of our SXSW party at Betsys, District 301. And we're not the only ones who think this... Valerie G writes: "Now that I'm finally back to being a human being again I can actually manage to write a review... and I don't even know how to start describing this event." And how about a sweet media hit on Billboard.com? Sure, we'll take it.

  Skinny1

Yelp's Skinny Pants dance featured some of the buzziest bands at SXSW. Use this mediafire dropbox to help you feel a little of that love. Two stages of brain bending tunage from  Evan Voytas (LA), Geographer (SF), High Highs (Australia/NYC), Black Whales (Seattle) & The Seedy Seeds (Cincy), Agesandages (Portland), California Wives (Chicago), Polock (Spain), Young Buffalo (Oxford, MS) & Jeremy Messersmith (Minneapolis). Several mentions of the great sound at the party and that credit goes to the rad, rad guys at Kinnison Audioworks. Heather F calls em out "How about the ridiculous amount of talent with the bands who performed who were from all over the world?  There were 2 stages going and every. single. band. was awesome."

Skinny2

While these arteeeests were melting our faces off and inspiring booty shaking previously unwitnessed by man, drinks were being "dranked" from our delicious sponsors Bacardi, Widmer and Crispin, mixers and non alcoholic bevvies Honest Tea, Vitamin Water, Prometheus Springs, and Zico Coconut Water. The snacks were a MUST and Pirate's Booty & Cornucopia served that purpose to perfection. Shannon B gives it "about 11 stars, but this stingy rating system forces me to max out at 5."

  Skinny3

As this cacophany of consumption was happening, elites were mugging for Magnolia Photobooth (pics at this link) and Hank Wisrodt captured the whole debacle on camera. That video soon... and we can guarantee it will feature some serious hair feathering by Hearts & Robots Hair Studio and The New Movement Hipster Extreme Makeover Action.

Skinny4

Read all the incredible reviews here and book those plane tickets now... because next year, we're gonna ratchet it up... if that's even humanly possible. Ryan S is doubtful: I think we have a new model party to which other sxsw parties will need to measure up to here. Fourty two free drinks and twelve stops in the photobooth later... Oh, if anyone finds my pants, can you please let me know?

Until then, SYOY!

NYC Elites Kick It Old School At Club A Steakhouse

While the boys from On The Town only had 24 hours in our fair metropolis, Yelp Elites are experts in the art of urban exploration. For the final of three March Madness Elite Events, folks indulged and reveled in the art of the classic NY Steakhouse.

During the evening hours yesterday, a flurry of action hit the second floor of Club A Steakhouse. Dish after succulent dish filled with steak, grilled salmon, buttery whipped mashed potatoes, crab cakes, creamed spinach, lamp chops and oh so much more was served out by their stellar staff. It's not every day that you get a full steak dinner on the house, and last night was a feast of epic proportions. To wash all this richness down, Malbec flowed from the corners of the room like water.

Add in some seriously delicious drinks from Buffalo Trace Bourbon and there were some pink-cheeked patrons waddling into the night air at the end of the evening. Funny faces and special places were captured by the crew at Magnolia Photo Booth and our resident photog Ben Lozovsky - check 'em out here.

As Phil H says, "There is nothing like the cool sounds of Frank Sinatra playing in the background, a smooth glass of red wine, bourbon, tasty steak, and the company of friends." Amen.

Until next time, SYOY!

Come Under the Big Top with Yelp Columbus!

Posted by Christina C.

Come one, come all! Yelp Columbus Elites and their guests were treated to a night of carnival craziness that included eight amazing sponsors at one visionary venue for Under the Big Top with Yelp at Wild Goose Creative, which is an organization and creative space that supports, encourages, and promotes all forms of art and artists in Columbus.

Under the Big Top collage 2

From caricature portraits by Steve Campbell, to dip-your-own (local!) caramel apples from Local Matters and Chef Laura, this elite party delivered all sorts of artsy amusement. "It had all the dressings of my favorite kind of event," relishes Matthew B.

Under the Big Top Collage 1

Vegan treats were dished out by Pattycake Bakery and Rad Dog! served their famous meatless hot dogs. Miffed, but delighted, Meredith R thought "those tofurkey dealies really tasted a lot like hot dogs!" She continues, "What really blew me away though, was that chocolate chip cookie I got from Pattycake. That amazing circle of chocolaty goodness was so moist and chewy that when I opened it up, pieces just fell right off into my hands."

Under the Big Top Collage 3

Meanwhile, Genre Creative kept yelpers smiling at the digital photobooth (available for rental!) and Alison from Fuse Factory  lit up the room with LED balloons. If you got your photo taken at the Genre Creative photobooth with – or without – a LED balloon, go to genrecreative.com, find client login under photography and enter the word Yelp to download or order prints.

Finally, what carnival would be complete without popcorn and slushies! Gratefully, Pam's Popcorn came through with individualized bags of her iconic Columbus Mix and Margarita Man kept the good times rollin' (perfect for summer fests) with cups of free-flowing margaritas and rum punch. Jimmy Buffet would be jealous.

Don't forget to read reviews from your fellow yelpers (or if you attended, go ahead and write your own.) Many thanks to our own Angie P from Skye Public Relations who took some amazing photos! (Yelp Elites are always so multi-talented.) Check out all the shots from the event on Flickr!

On the menu? Bite-size chicken & waffles, mini grilled cheese sandwiches, assorted housemade sausages and mustards, one-bite fish styx, mini stilton sandwiches and one-bite mini red velvet cupcakes. All topped off with three varieties of Del Norte brews (Manana, Cinco, or Orale) and Moscow Goats made special just for yelpers. This tasty bev featured Goat vodka, housemade maraschino cherry juice, ginger beer and lime. Can we get another round?

Yelp LA Goes Retro at King Richard's Antique Center

Think a torrential downpour, power outage, and roof leaks can hold LA Elites down? Nopesie daisy! Despite Mother Nature's hurdles, Elites time warped through different decades last night at King Richard's Antique Center in Whittier, CA.

    Picnik collage 1

The aisles of this collector's dream den were transformed into an homage to all things Bettie Page, Old Hollywood Glam, and Rustic Outdoor Country. Guests dressed in vintage garb and perused through the nostalgic treasures (with a mini flashlight in hand, just like grandma's attic!) while DJ Rudy Hernandez from RMH DanceSport Center kept them groovin' to the oldies. Santiago Valencia Photography captured the essence of the event by constructing a killer backdrop for photos using the surrounding stylish props.

Picnik collage 2

Christina Y and Mike Q manned the bar and soda pop stations so Elites could guzzle down bottles of Lemongrass, Rhubarb, Blood Orange, and Lavender DRY Soda, water, wine, and Cismontane Brewing draft Coulter IPA and Black Dawn's Imperial Coffee Stout. The Fry Girl pumped out addictive mini donuts in delicious flavors, California Grill warmed bodies up instantly with their Chef's Favorite bowtie chicken pasta, Setá took us to hotter culinary climates with perfect paella, and The Candy Chef delighted sweet tooths with their colorful confections and dazzling candy bouquets (one of which "best dressed" winner Michael P got to take home).

   Picnik collage 3

The reviews are in and the photos are up (extra special thanks to Albert E)!

A big thank you goes out to all the sponsors who also braved the conditions to show off their goodies and make Yelp Goes Retro even more memorable!

Good day, sirs and madams!

Yelp's Pretty Party at PR at Partners!

Posted by Tara Lewis

Pity parties are for suckas, so instead DC yelpers got down at a Pretty Party last week at PR at Partners salon in Friendship Heights.

Prpyelp

Just in time for spring, PR at Partners opened their doors to the lucky group of yelpers that made the guest list for an evening of complimentary blow outs, stylings, waxings, color consultations and make up applications to help guests with a fresh new look. That's right, Yelp DC got ripped, pulled, plucked, blown and done up all purdy-like all while sipping on endless glasses of prosecco, Blue Moon and Batch 19 beer as well as enjoying nibbles courtesy of Famoso Restaurant and Kendra's Cookies!

Pr.jpg

In between the grooming gluttony, yelpers whipped their hair back and forth like the great Willow Smith, courtesy of DJ Hazzard and stared narcisstically in every reflective surface in sight as they marveled at their beauty, perfectling their Zoolander inspired "looks."

A special thank you to PR at Partners for hosting this glamorous affair as well as a flip of the hair and a tilt of the hat to Famoso Restaurant, Blue Moon, Batch 19 and Kendra's Cookies.

Yelpers Have Gone Green in Orange County!

Posted by Hazel Q

Yelpers turned Orange County green at the Yelp Goes Green elite event at The OC Mart Mix on St. Patrick's Day! Elite yelpers got a chance to skip the crowds on everyone's fave drinking holiday, and were treated to a special sneak peek of all The OC Mart Mix at SoCo is going to offer - including tastings from We Olive, Portola Coffee Lab, Wicked 'Wiches, Le Napoleon Patisserie, and Taste Buds. Not only that, all of the shops in The Mix stayed open to let yelpers shop 'til they drop.

Picnik collage1

The color green went all the way outside with two of OC's fave green-hued food trucks, The Lime Truck and Dogzilla, who supplied hungry yelpers with gourmet bites... all while sipping on some organic vodka and Irish-inspired cocktails poured by the charming and talented bartenders from Bar One Beverage Catering, and local beer from Anaheim's own Noble Ale Works. And, of course, you've gotta have water - the very eco-friendly and environmentally driven Echo Water was on hand to make sure everyone left the party with quenched thirst... and you can now buy your own bottle at Mother's Markets locations throughout OC.

Picnik collage2
Not enough for ya, how about the rad musical stylings of The Joneses? They kept this party going with their kickass acoustic covers of everything from The Beatles to Drake... and word on the street is that they were pretty easy on the eyes too. The wonderful Elaine from E Photographic Art documented it all in style, as did the ever-talented Albert E, and the truly amazing 3D animated photobooth from the fine folks at 3D Cheeze.

Picnik collage3

Shops at The Mix also made sure yelpers got a chance to feel the luck of the Irish with chances to win amazing prizes in the raffle for the night - everything from a $1,000 bridal accessory, photography, and floral package from B.Bride to vegan-friendly dresses from Deer Lovely to custom-made stationery from The Paper House. Perhaps prize-winner, Qui C puts it best, "The venue was perfect - all the shops and owners were lovely; the owners willingly to share their special collection of stuff with us. They always took a moment to make me go 'Ahh.. that's cool!' Special shout out to the stores giving out the prizes, I won myself an incredible decorative bowl/plate from Flourish that retails at $75!"

Check out all of the reviews of the event yourself on Yelp, and head to Yelp's Flickr to see all the photo documentation of the night in action. Until next time... stay lucky, yelpers!

Yelp's Sugar High Launch Party at Project One

San Francisco goes crazy over moist cupcakes, we go ga ga over soft baked cookies, and who doesn't love devouring decadent chocolate? The Bay Area knows and loves it's sweets, and we figured what better way to satisfy SF yelper's growing addiction to the sugary stuff than by launching Yelp's Sugar High - an ode to all things sweet and gluttonous! And to kick off the week in style, Yelp San Francisco hosted a just as epic-ly sweet launch party at the art gallery, cafe, and lounge... Project One
Collagepic

In addition to exploring the current Andy Warhol Reimagined exhibit at Project One featuring works by talented local artists, guests swooned over Black Jet Baking Company (they make a killer home-made Pop Tart) oatmeal liquor infused rasin cookies, From Scratch's moist morsels topped with fresh cream, and mini cupcakes from the always personable staff at Mission Minis. With the vast assortment of local goodies decorating the space, there was only one thing missing - liquid candy - aka wine! Rock Wall Winery was on hand with heavy pours and happily satiated yelpers throughout the night with their Zinfandel and late-harvest Riesling. Pauline D commented that "The cab packed a super powerful petrol punch and the late-harvest Sauvignon blanc provided a super sweet note to end the evening," and she couldn't wait to try their Viognier at their tasting room in Alameda.

It's Sweet to be a Manchester Elite!

For once, it wasn't a wet Wednesday in the North West! A crowd of cupcake fans hurried over to Manchester's financial district Spinningfields for an evening of frosting-based frolics at Hey Little Cupcake!, the city centre's premier cupcakery.

Yelpers were treated to a generous selection of miniature cupcakes from HLC proprietor Sarah Wilson's signature collection, including the ever-popular Red Velvet. As Bex T puts it, "The cakes were, as ever, light and fluffy and delicious. My favourite of the evening had to be the mini Red Velvet which had a gorgeous moist base and an almost mousse like frosting. We also got a chance to try HLC's brownies which had the perfect combo of crunchy topping and squidgy-widgy chocolatey base. Yuh-uhm! Oh what a night/ Oh what a cupcake/ What a night..."

Yep, home-made brownies and leftover Ozzy Delights were scarfed – oh yes, those are the ones with the Tim Tams on top, people. We'll just give you a moment to wipe the drool from your keyboard.

"What a splendid way to spend a Wednesday evening, drinking wine and eating cupcakes," marvelled Jessica X. "I shall be swinging by Hey Little Cupcake tomorrow morning and probably every time passing... the cupcakes really were truly delicious, I can't wait to try the black velvet."

  DSC_0101 DSC_0100

Yelp Manchester favourites Oneglass Wine and Vitamin Water were on tap to quench sponge-induced thirsts, and not only did guests walk away with Yelp schwag but we even had a few purchases of HLC's own cupcake-themed goodies such as necklaces and tote bags!

New York Yelpers Tip Their Hats To The Trilby

Whether or not they were donning fedoras or hats at all, one things for sure: something new moved into the Cooper Square Hotel at the end of February. After unpacking and meeting the neighbors, the good folks from The Trilby invited a group of Manhattan's finest yelpers to an intimate housewarming party complete with 6-minute egg toast, charcuterie, cheese (galore!), artichoke & grilled cheese crostinis, steak tartare and various other indulgent nibbles. To wash this all down complimentary Starr African Rum Safaris and Mojitos were passed around.

Yelp's Nerd Spring Break at the Ghost Room

Posted by kelly stocker

Admit it... we all are secretly a little nerdy. Or maybe not so secretly. Whether you're super into modern jazz or more into basement Dungeons & Dragons, there's something that you can bust out full nerd on. And during SXSWinteractive, the best and the brightest of those nerds descend upon Austin in hordes and swarms and geek out to the max. What better time to host a Nerd Spring Break party?

  Ghost room 1

Interactive elites and Yelp elites mixed and mingled at our #nerdup event at the Ghost Room this Saturday. We sipped on the only, the National Beer of Texas, frosty Lone Star, and enjoyed delish cocktails mixed up with Honest Tea, Vitamin Water, Prometheus Springs. Under Pressure Screen Printing created snazzy T shirts for the first 200 elites, continuing the tradition from last year.

  Nerd spring break 2

Because a lot of those folks can't stay for the music portion of the event, we sourced local Austin musicians to give them one hell of a show. Fabulous performances by Shane Bartell, Sunset, The White White Lights & Dana Falconberry had elites singing, dancing and dirty dancing along to the tunes.

Nerd Spring Break 3

Our besties over at Magnolia Photobooth have the pics of all the gorgeous (nerd spring break) faces! Check them here. And don't forget those Echotone folks. As promised, here's the Best Soundtrack Paste Magazine has ever seen... for free! Reviews on the event listing are raves and it's only getting bigger and better as we look forward to our next event, Yelp's Skinny Pants Dance!

Until then, SYOY!

Yelp's Love Yourself Event @ Pure Barre in Bellevue

Posted by Katy

So we all know February is the month where we celebrate love for someone else. But what about loving yourself?

For Seattleites March is off to a great start! Eastside yelpers showed their love for themselves, for Yelp and for Pure Barre at one of our snazziest Elite events ever!  Whether it was a time out to eat our favorite foods, squeeze in a work out, treat ourselves to a massage from Red Door or get a mini-makeovers courtesy of Vain, this event proved the perfpect place for pampering! Oh, and did we mention the FREE tans? That's right. In the NW we're lacking in the sunshine dept but Seattle Sun Tan provided guests with free on-site spray tans. How tan-tastic is that?!

Picnik collage

With prize packages and goodies galore, guests were treated to wine provided by Chatueau St. Michelle, adorable bite-sized cupcakes from Trophy Cupcake, tasty treats from KIND snacks, and massive platters of edamame puree from Boom Noodle.

Picnik collage2

Wait... did we get too girly on you
? Have no fear! Parked right outside the party there was plenty more entertainment provided by Seattle's own Gametruck! With room for 12 guests at a time, the truck hosted only the happiest of campers with their four 52" flatscreen monitors playing games like Halo, Mario Kart, and more!

Beer. Bourbon. BBQ. Brooklyn.

Last night was Brooklyn Yelp's to throw down with a Hoedown! And you know it was a party at Mable's Smokehouse since this morning Phil H reports, "I feel as if I crawled into a bottle of Makers Mark, slathered amazing BBQ all over my body, and then did a striptease down to nothing but a g-string and cowboy hat on! Yee-haw!" Wait, what?

Screen shot 2011-03-15 at 11.04.58 AM Screen shot 2011-03-15 at 11.05.52 AM Screen shot 2011-03-15 at 11.08.40 AM Screen shot 2011-03-15 at 11.28.02 AM

Phil's peculiar proclivities aside, it was an epic event for the ages.  Fittingly, Urban Cowboy was on the TV, The BBQ Band was playing some honky-tonk, and the excellent aroma of smoked meat filled the air. The kitchen turned out all sorts of down-home Oklahoma Southern samples ranging from pulled pork, ribs, mac & cheese, baked beans, collard greens, brisket, potato salad and more!

And it wouldn't have been Brooklyn Yelp's own Beer, Bourbon and BBQ festival without delicious Maker's Mark cocktails (including some made with the brand new Maker's 46) and the cans of Coors Original that chased the BBQ into our bellies.

A huge thank you goes out to Mable's staff, especially Chef Jeff and the lovely Meghan for welcoming the Yelp Elite with open arms. Whether or not you made it out, be sure to check out the pictures (including some more taken by our own Andrew D) and the reviews!

Calgary Elites Ring In Spring With A Festival Of Colour

Posted by Wendy

What happens when you put 50-odd yelpers in a room with amazing food and stellar drinks? Marvelous Mango Shiva magic! That’s what. The Yelp Elite Squad and guests ignited their senses and destroyed their inhibitions with the new spring food and cocktail menu at Mango Shiva. Killer live music and temporary body art with an on-site henna artist rounded out an already impressive event.

March blog 1
Street clothes and saris alike appeared to welcome in spring with a Festival of Colour. From mussels to meatballs, yelpers feasted on impressive eats from a not-yet-released spring food menu. Set to make its appearance in April, it incorporates more local, seasonal and organic ingredients, while presenting a diverse sampling of the Indian sub continent. The “standout” dish for yelper Lana W was the potato dish. Yum!

March Blog 2
Besides filling themselves with food, Elites sipped some sensational spirits. Ryan M raves: “The new cocktail selection is beyond amazing. The pomogranate and rose water martini.. awesome. But the most amazing item of the night was the Ginger Mule cocktail! Tons of lime, gingerbeer and vodka. So fresh!”

Musicians wowed the crowd with sublime sounds of a zither-like instrument and hand-drum duo from atop a table-turned-stage.

March Blog 3
Local henna artist, Susan from Carefully Crafted Henna Designs, delighted guests with artwork of flowers, peacocks and other intricate patterns. All the while, Dave Blaine of Voyager Photography snapped snazzy photos of yelpers, venue and food alike.

March Blog 4
In the words of Angelo T: “Oh I'll be back Mango Shiva...I'll be back...

Wine Down With Yelp in Detroit

Posted by Annette

Those of us in Michigan know--the winter can be stressful. What with all the snow shoveling, the treacherous roads, the hazards of falling icicles, etc. So what better way to usher in March and the signs of spring than by relaxing with some friends, wine, and delectable bites? Well, that's what 40 odd Detroit Yelp elites and their guests did at the Wine Down With Yelp elite event at Tallulah Wine Bar and Bistro on Monday March 7th, 2011.

  Wine1Wine2

Held in Tallulah's "Tallulah Too" wine tasting room, yelpers enjoyed complimentary tastings of five of their finest Spanish reds, whites, and rosé while snacking on a selection of Spanish cheeses, stuffed olives, and bruschetta. As the vino flowed, yelpers were able to chat about their favorite samples with the knowledgeable Tallulah staff and mix and mingle in an intimate setting. As a special treat the owner of Tallulah, Mindy, took a moment to talk to the group about their space and their exciting upcoming events (like the Sommelier Slam series).

Wine3Wine7

With all that wine a'flowin' you didn't want to lose your glass. Luckily the wine charm making station came to the rescue! With a fine selection of supplies, yelpers could exercise their immense creativity and craft their own beaded markers--ensuring security for all those healthy pours. From pinks to blues, silvers and reds, yelpers created lovely charms for the night and to take home.

  Wine9 Wine4

Add that to a fantastic raffle for two tickets to The Magic Flute courtesy of the Detroit Opera House and their Access Program, a special check-in offer entering yelpers who checked in into a raffle to win one of the three beautiful flower arrangements created by Ann Arbor florist Flora Bardakjian, and a special take home collection of artists featured at the 2010 Detroit International Jazz Festival in CD form thanks to the 2011 Detroit International Jazz Festival, and elite yelpers were treated to some serious pampering and relaxation that evening.

Wine5Wine6

Thanks again to the amazing staff at Tallulah (including Mindy, Karen, and Lou) and their passion for wine and food, the Detroit Opera House, The Detroit International Jazz Festival, Flora Bardakjian, Doug Coombe Photography, and our incredible Detroit elite squad who made this event so special. If you were able to attend, be sure to review the event here. If you weren't able to attend you can look at all the fabulous photos here.

Until next time!

Edinburgh Elites' Brewed Awakening @ Artisan Roast

Posted by Jenny Lovatt

It may have been blowing a gale on the streets of Auld Reekie last night but Edinburgh yelpers braved the elements to brew up a storm in a coffee cup at their first Elite Event: Yelp's Brewed Awakening @ Artisan Roast! And what better way to keep warm than by savouring their own hand-made flat whites, modelling for Artisan's in-house artist Si, and feasting on the finest fare from Thyme, accompanied by delectable wines and ales from Villeneuve Wines?

VenueCollage1

Michael and Lukasz, Artisan's "uber-baristas", were the perfect hosts for the evening. For some like Chris M who previously "couldn't tell a macchiato from a flat white or a cappucino from a cinqucento, having the opportunity to learn the theory behind something he previously thought so cursory was incredible. He'd never appreciated how much goes into making the perfect coffee."

Coffeemakingcollage5
It was nothing short of a miracle that Michael and Lukasz managed to turn a 4-hour introduction to coffee crafting into a 30-minute caffeinated whirlwind, giving all 20 yelpers the chance to grind and brew their own espresso (tasting the three stages of a single shot) and heating the milk to velvety-smooth perfection for the latte art.

Coffeemakingcollage4

Coffeemakingcollage1

Artisan
's passion, panache and pizzazz for exceptional coffee had the whole room buzzing. Milk was over-zealously sprayed, rogue cappuccinos were created, the phrase ‘coffee porn’ was used on more than one occasion and some delightful, if at times questionable, latte art was created. “My only concern” reflects Hilary H, “is that I now know TOO MUCH about good coffee, and won't be able to appreciate anything sub-par in the future.”

Coffemakingcollage3

Several shots of espresso later, those yelpers were hungry. How often do a roomful of hungry yelpers not finish their food? Until last night, I’d wager never! A true testament to the lavish feast that Thyme provided in the shape of delicious wraps, rolls and plentiful platters of meats and cheeses: crayfish, rocket and cherry tomato wraps; chicken, avocado, and pesto rolls; falafel and roasted peppers; brie and apple; chili, tuna and cheddar to name but a few.

FoodCollage1

And with huge hunks of cheese, layers of meats, olives, fruit, relishes, fresh-baked breads and Scottish oatcakes its safe to say that Thyme outdid themselves in keeping these yelpers not only incredibly well-fed but waxing lyrical about those sarnies for hours after!

Foodcollage3

As if that wasn’t enough titillation for the tastebuds, Beth from Villeneuve Wines popped in to introduce the delightfully fresh Spanish white and fruity Spanish red she’d hand-picked to compliment the menu from Thyme. Throw in a selection of ten different fine ales and beers to sample – from fruity cherry, spicy ginger, to darker stouts – there wasn’t a yelper without a delicious drink in hand throughout the eve.

Winecollage

Amidst the grinding, sipping, munching, mmm-ing and ahh-ing, Simon penned each yelper's portrait Artisan style. The pictures speak for themselves, but with heads springing out of coffee cups and “Yelp Hearts Artisan” scribed alongside its safe to say Si managed to capture the essence of the night true to Artisan form!

Drawingcollage
The good times rolled late into the evening and it was well after 10pm before the last yelper left the building. “With the coffee, the food, the drinks and the company, it would have been a major feat for this evening to be anything but stellar.  What's the word for something which is better than stellar?” asked Emily V later. “That was last night, something better than stellar.” I couldn’t have said it better myself!

Peoplecollage1
A huge thank you to everyone who made the first Edinburgh Elite Event such a better-than-stellar evening: Michael and Lukasz, Pauline, Beth, Si, Robin for the photies, Kay L and Chris M for helping out, and to all those yelpers that came along – you can’t have a party without the peeps. The elements can throw what they want at Edinburgh yelpers, that snow and hail had nothing on them!

Talk about it. Rate and review it. See all the action with lots more piccies.

And so, until next time!

Yelp Indy Elites Belly Up For One Bangin' Soiree At White Rabbit Cabaret

Yelp Indy Elites hopped down to Eff'n Square's swankiest nightlife lair, White Rabbit Cabaret for the Yelp Indy Cabaret Soiree -- and they had no idea what was in store.

Sun King Brewing tapped fresh kegs of their local beer -- Naptown Brown -- an Imperial Brown Ale, & brought their colorful cans o' Cream, Wee Mac & Osiris Pale Ale. 240Sweet lit the burners and toasted their artisan elephant ear, chocolate chip & vanilla s'more marshmallows. Square Rootz Deli brought their deli-icious food that can only be described as, "Cracker Barrel, just without the Jesus," says owner Jeff Reuter. And, host -- White Rabbit Cabaret -- brought, well, just the finest damn enterntainment around -- The Muncie Brothers' Burlesque Bingo Bango. Let the Elite evening begin!

Ladies and Germs, welcome to Burlesque Bingo.

And, of course, there were prizes for every round of bingo. Bi-winning yelpers Janet S and Klay K had a dance off to determine who won (when we all knew it was us in the audience who were the real winners).

Peep the solarflarephotos, read the five star reviews here, and we'll see you on the flip side of burlesque, bingo, beer, meat balls, toasted 'mallows and the badassery of the Elite Squad, for another adventure in connecting awesome locals to awesome local businesses.

Yelp San Francisco's Dashing like Don Draper Yelp Elite Event @ Fifth Floor

With so many recent television fanatics clamoring over a golden age of yesteryear (exempli gratia: fans of AMC's hit series, Mad Men) the Fifth Floor inside the Hotel Palomar served as the perfect setting to pay homage to the unofficial ambassador to the "cultural decade", one Don Draper. With San Francisco Yelp Elites encouraged to dust off their finest pillbox hats and '60s Mod attire, all in attendance were treated to a decadent evening of pre-Prohibition style cocktails from Hendricks, as well as piquant bites from the brand spankin' new lounge menu from the Fifth Floor's head chef, David Bazirgan (who, subsequently, was named Eater's "Hottest Chef in America"!).

Dapper Eatit Dashing Smilebig

Among other flavorful nibbles, Yelpers treated their palates to tuna tartare, duck brioche, mushroom tarts, braised beef and potato bites, with true Mad Men grace and style. Guests, such as Derrick V. were so floored by the wowing bites, they excitedly dropped their business cards into a massive wine glass for a chance to win a complimentary Burger, Bourbon and Beer dinner combo (offered daily at Fifth Floor for an impressive $25!) at another time in the not-too-distant future. In the immortal words of Carlos Irwin Estevez (better known as Charlie Sheen), #WINNING!

Orlando Elites Got Swag & Took the party to Park Plaza Gardens!

Posted by Colleen Burns

Orlando Elite Yelpers prove “The City Beautiful” is so the correct term for Orlando yet again! We ventured to Park Ave and hit up a gorgeous restaurant in the middle of this bustling street. At Park Plaza Gardens we didn’t just experience their gorgeous sidewalk or poppin' bar scene, we took it to the impressive atrium dining room. We were wined, dined and sung to pure bliss as we experienced the exclusive first taste of their “Winter Park Through The Years” spring menu. From succulent salads to tender duck covered in cherry sauce and amazing ice cream puff lusciousness.

Picnik collage

Twinkle lights among the trees, the gorgeous sounds from Robert Johnson of EveryDay Ghosts and the lovely Sarah Purser, phenomenal service, delicious food and tasty cocktails kicked the mood into high gear. The Guenoc Cabernet Sauvignon was flowing and we had a taste of Winter Park’s own Grand Touring (GT) Vodka: Scientifically proven the world’s smoothest vodka. Nothing taste more wonderful than local liquor, unless it’s the only vodka in the entire world with ZERO impurities (score!).

The ladies displayed their best oldies themed hats as the gentleman rocked ties, suspenders and hats! Everyone mixed and mingled to see who had the best get up and voted.  We also had the chance to vote on our favorite dishes of the night, such an awesome perk of being an Elite!

Picnik collage2

It was a VIP blast and our sincerest thank you to everyone on staff at Park Plaza Gardens, the entire Elite Squad, Robert Johnson and Sarah Purser, GT Vodka and Kelley S. for snapping the night away!

Elite Event: Shochu Your Own Adventure

Posted by Lizzie G

On Monday 7th March 50 lucky London Elites experienced an exclusive shochu and sake tasting at The Crane and Tortoise. As the queue of yelpers waited outside in the cold for the doors to open, The Crane and Tortoise's head bartender and manager Reo was shaking up some tasty treats behind the bar.

  Crane 1

As name tags were written and Elites, new and old, were welcomed they went on through to learn a little bit more about the history and hard work behind making shochu and sake by Chris Hughes from Tazaki Foods and Hiroyuki Ito from Takara Shuzo Co.

  Crane 2

After this education, generous sloshes of Takara (barley shochu) and Komaki (sweet potato shochu) were served up for thirsty elites in three traditional styles, on the rocks, with water and with green tea. The bustling kitchen brought out tray after tray of sushi, grilled octopus balls (takoyaki), squid salad, gyoza dumplings, crispy chicken bits and more.

  Crane 3

As even more food come out, chopsticks dived into the delisious food and moved onto the Jun (sugar cane shochu) and passion fruit cocktail. Yummy! We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Reo and his team at The Crane and Tortoise as well as Chris from Tazaki Foods and Hiroyuki Ito from Takara Shuzo Co.

On the first level, DJ Hart Break kept the crowd entertained with background music on the main stage while yelpers hung out and relaxed thanks to the trendy touch of lounge furniture and table tops provided by Kool. This was a night not to be forgotten, so luckily yelpers made lasting memories by creating their own photo book from FlipBook and had photobooth fun with SnapBooth. In anticipation of the upcoming 2nd Annual Arizona Barbecue Festival, the fine folks at EaterAZ played the very popular Pass the Pigs with yelpers and awarded prizes involving our friend, Mr. Jack Daniels.

With bellies full and thirst quenched, yelpers enjoyed the various activities offered by the Arizona Science Center including complimentary Planetarium shows, discounted tickets to see the traveling BodyWorlds, exhibits like Get Charged Up and My Digital World and learned about the power of the brain in the brand new W.O.N.D.E.R Center. So many experiments, activities, entertainment, eating, drinking and excitement can tire a yelper out, but luckily 5-Hour Energy and RockStar were on hand to charge the anatomy's battery with a swift jolt.

Yelp's Ultimate Science Fair at the Arizona Science Center created a night full of electrical sparks and you can be blinded by science yet again. Revisit the night by reading the reviews, checking out the photos from Esoterik Images, Owen Murray Photography and SnapBooth Entertainment and chiming in on Talk. A special thank you to the Arizona Science Center for graciously hosting the evening, each of the participating vendors, and to the yelp community who attended!

Yelp's Patio Partying With Zed's & Dripping Springs Texas Vodka

Posted by kelly stocker

What a way to spend Texas Independence Day! We hiked up north to a new and sassy restaurant done in the style of Michael Hsu. Zed's is sprawling and gorgeous, with beautiful touches and enough coziness to make you feel insulated from the outside world. Says Veek N: "You would never expect to find this place where it is. When you'd least expect it, there is Zed's - locally owned, the one and only, rescuing you from the mundane."

Zeds2

It was wonderful to see so many happy and relaxed faces. The smaller events are a great time to make friends "IRL." Although between the sumptuous buffet of gumbo, shirt, artichoke dip, mini pot pies, jalapeno chocolate cake and absolutely (handome and) incredible staff, I would imagine we were all feeling *quite* relaxed (and full) by the end of the night. Jennifer B was! She "especially liked the pork taquitos. The ribs were melt off the bone tender, the spinachoke dip was heavenly" and is "sorry if you wanted some strawberries, blackberries or raspberries" as she ate them all.

Zeds1

Dripping Springs Texas Vodka pulled out the big guns when they sponsored this one. There's nothing so delicious as a cold martini made with local voddie. Apparently they're Jim L's "new lover. I had one vodka lemonade then left the event for my yoga class.  Let's just say I was one step closer to Nirvana last night."

Zeds3

Big ups to Zeds who also hired Brian Hudson to bust out some soulful tunes. Pictures are back from Creative Edge Imaging and you can find them here. Check the glowing reviews here. New elite Ashley S get's straight to the point: Zed's is a must for a dinner on a beautiful evening and Drippings Springs vodka is going to be my go-to choice for vodka from now on." Check out the gleeful faces on flickr!

Until the next time we all gather in the name of Yelp,

Yelp Indy Elites Take Their Party (and Sun King Beer) To Bloomington

Introducing more people in more places to more awesome local businesses -- that's the Yelp Elite Squad's bread & butter (or should we say... beer &, well, beer?) Sun King Brewing launched into Bloomington, and they saw no better way to kick things off than to have the Elite Squad welcome guests at FARMbloomington into the world of their fresh, local beer.

Yelp, Sun King & FARM
Yelp, Sun King & FARM

Sun King said, "We'll bring the beer," FARM said, "we'll open our doors and bring the food," and Yelp Elites said, "Hey, we'll bring the party." Done.

FARMbloomington opened their Root Cellar to an exclusive evening to preview beers such as the flagships Sunlight Cream Ale & Osiris Pale Ale, as well as the seasonal Orange Blossom Special & Naptown Brown. FARM brought their delicious eats of pesto-drizzled pizza and jalapeno-topped sausage.

Sun King's Brewer/Owner Clay Robinson personally previewed his beer to guests and, for the first time, Bloomington found out how the Elite Squad gets down.

Thanks to Sun King, FARM & the Yelp Elite Squad, Bloomington's future is so bright they have to wear shades:

Yelp's Bikinis Blowout (Everyone Gets Lei'd!)

Posted by kelly stocker

Austin male elites were ecstatic when we announced an elite event at Bikinis Bar & Grill for our February event. Not just because it was at an establishment with pretty ladies of the busty persuasion but because it was guaranteed fun.

Bikinis1

Why you ask? Just try to remain unmoved when faced with the bounty of a smorgasboard of quesadillas and various salsas with chips. Oh the drinking? You might have heard of this little tequila out of Mexico, Patron. Between the margaritas, the palomas, shots (and a couple more shots), Yelpers mixed and mingled their way to entirely too many personal questions and a darn good time. Tasha B calls it like she sees it: "Life's a beach at Bikinis!  The waitresses brought their "A" game, and by "A" game I mean drinks, lots of tasty drinks."

Bikinis2

It didn't hurt that upon arrival, Yelpers were greeted by a Welcome Yelp sign & a big old "Yelp Yer Heart Out" on their marquee. Squeeeeeee! Yelpers got schwag and leis and silly hats and pretty pics in the photobooth from Creative Edge Imaging. This elite event was one for the books, as you can see in the reviews. Megan L's excitement spills over into all caps... "I LOVE BEING ELITE!!!!!" For all other pics, check the flickr!

Until then, SYOY

Soirée Elite Yelp: Vintage Fashion Chez Jacques Fivel

Posted by Elodie

IMG_5174

There must be something with black cats and Yelp parties in Paris these days.Yesterday, the eccentric clothing collector Jacques Fivel and his adorable black kitties welcomed 70 yelpers into their mesmerizing private showroom/boutique for a night of dress up fun in honor of Paris Fashion Week. The vintage fashion party kicked off with a stylish cheese and wine smorgasbord that ravished our elite squad’s palates. “Great wine, a Cheverny 2008, and an outstanding selection ofwine,” Cecile H couldn’t have asked for a better intro to the evening.
4
After exploring Jacques’ atelier, packed floor to ceiling with antique masks, musical sculptures, and art brought back from his many travels, the guests hit the clothing racks and started posing in front of the camera in vintage Jean Paul Gauthier,Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent... “Bravo! Who thought I could find Lucchese Classics insoft leather and a Kenzo Jacket for such a bargain in Paris,” screamed a very happy Marc M after the party. Between “gold lame YSL suits, colored polka dots dresses and hyper flashy floral jackets” Camille D and the rest of the yelpers were struck by the outstanding vintage selection.
5
Enchanted by the place, its open kitchen, its homemade Costa Rican soup, its black cats and its surreal, totally wild decoration, some yelpers felt so comfortable at Jacques' that they started playing host themselves! Eloi M may have found a new vocation as a bartender, a role he slipped into as the night went on to “meet all the new faces, each one as nice and friendly as the last.”

Smile, Yelp Loves YEW Elite Parties!

Posted by Cyndi

Sure, the warm fuzzies of Valentine’s Day may have faded, but for Vancouver Elites, pink- and woodsy-themed parties kindled some serious love. Hosted by the swanky YEW restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel, yelpers were treated to two intimate parties (45 guests each) of pure pampered pleasure.

Pink

Between the charming, friendly staff and the cornucopia of treats, Elites were kept deliciously entertained. Lucky for us, JBSP Photography, Christine McAvoy and our own Larry L were there to capture it all on film. See our Yelp Flickr page for more fab photos.

Reg

Our savoury smorgasboard included freshly shucked oysters, local artisan cheeses, duck rolls, lobster balls, salmon tartare with quail eggs, as well as truffled comforts such as mac n’ cheese, gnocchi and porcini mushroom soup. Vanessa G sums it up nicely: “if I had to choose my last meal on earth it probably would have been everything we ate.”

Savourys

Saccharine delicacies bedecked the dessert table—each a miniature masterpiece. Mango ‘ravioli’ shooters, espresso-caramel crème brulee, strawberry crème cups and handmade truffle lollipops kept sweet-toothed guests grinning from ear to ear.

Desserts

Happily buzzed, elites sipped on a plethora of delish drinks such as wines from Masi, Monmousseau and a brand new sparkling by Mission Hill that hasn’t been released yet! Molson M provided their micro-carbonated brew while YEW's award-winning bartender created cocktails such as pink sidecars and negronis made with Campari and Hendricks.

Booze

From pretty-in-pink peeps to lumberjacks in full uniform, everyone had a dashing good time with the friendliest group in Vancouver! The pleasant reunion was well matched by the warmth of the Yew staff who ensured that we were sufficiently spoiled all evening long.

Pink staff

All in all it was a smashing success with new friendships and tummies happily expanded. Click here to see event reviews or to add your own.

Can’t wait to see YEW all at the next exciting event!
