Yelp Cops Barley Pops at City Tap House
Philadelphia Elites converged on City Tap House last night for an evening of free-flowing conviviality across the river in West Philly, better known as Yelp Cops Barley Pops!
Barley Pops, an admittedly out-of-fashion synonym for beer, emerged as the theme when Community Manager Felicia D and City Tap House beverage director Andy Farrell determined there just aren't enough beer cocktails in the world.
Fabulously generous hook-ups from local craft breweries, including Sly Fox (Phoenixville, PA), Prism Brewing (North Wales, PA), Brooklyn Brewery (Brooklyn, NY) and Original Sin Cider (NY, NY) were the base of our alchemical admixtures. Bottles of cheer from Combier (original French orange triple sec) and ROOT liquor (Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired spice liquor), along with handmade syrups and fresh juices, completed the science experiment.
the Brooklyn Dutch (Brooklyn Brown Ale, ROOT liquor, homemade vanilla bean syrup)
the French Fox (Sly Fox Royal Weisse, Combier, orange)
Summer Apple Shandy (Original Sin cider, lemonade)
Prism Brewing Bitto Honey IPA (too unique to mess with!)
Chef Al Paris and his dedicated crew whipped out 50+ pizzas (!) from their brick oven, plus sinfully carbalicious deep-fried mac & cheese bites, shrimp skewered with spicy chorizo and teeny potatoes stuffed with Vacheron blue cheese and filet.
Thusly sated, we turned our attention to the rootsy musical stylings of local folk-rockers TJ Kong & the Atomic Bomb, who pleased ears with foot-tapping tunes complete with fiddle! Once the summer rainstorm ceased, outdoorsy types took to the expansive balcony, complete with meadow-like green roof and firepits, for some al fresco lounging.
