Yelpers Get Golden at Austin's "Gilt"y Pleasures Party

Posted by kelly stocker

Austin's best and shiniest yelpers gathered at Townhouse to indulge their "Gilty Pleasures" this Thursday. The line formed half an hour before the event and yelpers buzzed and glittered while waiting to get into the infused booze bar. Dej M has a shirt that "keeps on giving". Days later, her house, car, and places in other states she's "never been to are still covered in gold glitter".

Upon entering, they were met by custom complimentary Deep Eddy Vodka cocktails, gourmet popcorn from Reel Popcorn, delicious cupcake bites from Sugar Mama's and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate from the masters over at Arte Y Chocolate. Catherine T loved (no really, LOVED) the cupcakes: "God dang, when Lisa M told me there were orange dreamsicle cupcakes, I charged through the crowd like a 110-lb bowling ball.  I didn't wanna try the chocolate one with the gold shavings atop... but I did anyway.  Screw you, pancreas."

Solid Gold hits pumped from the speakers and Yelp favorite Annie Ray took amazing photos of happy yelpers adorned in golden accessories including, but not limited to, gold garland, gold crowns, a viking hat, christmas balls. Twenty five lucky yelpers took home shotglasses and the party continued until well in the night with discounted cocktails for those folks that stayed. Yelp after-party at Egos Karaoke can be summed up with Jason G: Oh man, what a productive Friday morning thanks to another amazing yelp event (former adjective: sarcastic; later: factual). My planned night of casual indulgence ended with me singing A Whole New World with Valerie G. at the top of my lungs."

Until the next debacle, SYOY!

Yelp Indy Goes Off the Chains at The Ball & Biscuit

Yelp loves the Circle City, and the Circle City showed their love for Yelp -- with over 90 guests at The Ball & Biscuit for the Yelp Elite Squad Launch Party

Yelpers and their guests more than enjoyed the Ball & Biscuit's speakeasy-style cocktails from scratch. From the Sidecar to the Sazerac, owner Zach Wilks & staff kept it shaking all night long!

The Yelp Elite Squad snagged their lovely Yelp lunch boxes before anyone else could get their hands on the hot gift. Speaking of gifts... salmon cakes with wasabi sauce, tender beef satay and fingerling potatoes topped with caviar, The Ball & Biscuit's Chef Brad Gates proved why he's won the James Beard award for service.

This being the first Elite Event, the Elite Squad finally convened to mingle with one another amidst all the noshing & quaffing. Elite of the Elite MJ W put it well: "There are a lot of fun people on Yelp, and glad we were able to attend and enjoy ourselves with a classic pre-prohibition cocktail." Photographer (and Elite Squad-er) Colleen S, of colleendesign.com, caught the action.

A special guest got word of the speakeasy-style cocktails, and he wanted to relive his days of robberies and rye whiskey. The special guest made it past Johnny T at the check-in table. Then, he proceeded to hold up the Elite Squad and guests. Yes, the one, the only, John Dillinger

It's good to be on the elite squad in D-town! More than 100 elites enjoyed a sit-down Mexican meal at Cilantro Fusion in downtown Denver Friday night. Elites and their guests noshed on a kickin’ menu including chips and salsa, fresh guacamole, Yucatan chicken banana leaf tamal, cilantro pesto quesadillas, mini enchiladas, fajita tacos, and rounded out the evening with tres leches cake for dessert.

Cilantro6 Cilantro2 Cilantro3

And the drinks were flowing! Guests chose from options including signature drink the Torito slush (made up of Montezuma Gold Tequila, Rain Organics Vodka and Barton Silver Rum blended with Mango), traditional margaritas, peach and guava martinis, and three varieties of Mexican beer from local brewer Del Norte Brewing

Cilantro4 Cilantro5 Cilantro7

The evening wouldn’t have been complete without fab raffle prizes, including tix to the next bout of the Denver Roller Dolls, tix to the upcoming Bicycle Film Festival, and a groovy gift basket from A la Carte Gifts & Baskets. Big thanks to Greater Range DJ for providing sound support, too.

Yelp DC Celebrates Michael Jackson's Birthday at Madame Tussauds!

Posted by Tara Lewis

MJ it's your birthday! Happy birthday MJ!

Today is Michael Jackson's 52nd birthday, but just a few days ago the DC Yelp Elite Squad rocked out at Madame Tussauds wax museum and got a jump start on the celebration!

To honor his music and talent over the years, the DC Elites made sure to JAM with their fellow yelpers and Didn't Stop 'Til They Got Enough food from Toscana Cafe, Pilsner Urquell and plenty of free flowing wine.

As if the Elite Squad wasn't VIP enough, MJ's celebrity friends were in the house to celebrate as well! Beyonce Upgraded us with her Bootyliciousness, Tom Cruise stayed off the couch, Tiger Woods stuck to just putting around, Angelina and Brad left their kids at home, Mr. and Mrs. Obama shared a few brewskis with guests and Britney Spears remained on her pole and away from the Cheetos.

The savory appetizers courtesy of Toscana Cafe, Rocked Our World as we danced to some of MJ's classic hits until it was time to Beat It!

Make sure to check out reviews from the event so you can Remember the Time.  Also, make sure to check out photos from the event shot by Elite yelper, Keon D.

Oh and for a little bonus footage, you can also check out Elite yelper Anna D's pics of Spike Bunny's adventures at the event!

Until next time, SYOY and remember...Billie Jean was not my lover either.

Columbus Elites Are Jazzed for Joe

Posted by Christina C.
Columbus Elites proved they, too, could go gaga over Joe Jonas as much – or more – as an adolescent girl at August's Ain't Your Average Joe Yelp Elite Party.

Watermark-1  Watermark-4  Watermark

Host venue Average Joe's Pub and Grill fed Elites poppin' pretzel bites, wings of the delicious variety and pepperoni pizza that put Kyle J over the edge: "The pepperoni is what did it for me. The nice little peps that just crisp-up! Yum!" To wash it all down, Superior Beverage Group supplied a keg of Magic Hat. Hey, Lisa S! It's true: "Rumor is, we killed the keg."

Watermark-10  Watermark

ShutterBooth Columbus provided photo ops for Elites to capture their run-ins with celebrity Joes – including Joe Jonas, Joseph Christ, Joey McIntyre, mamma 'roo with baby joey and G.I. Joe. I think Sabrina L said it best: "Really, how could a party go wrong with Joseph Christ on the guest list?"

P8240453 P8240456
P8240459 Watermark-12

Acoustic duo, White Gould, strummed Joe-themed tunes by Joe Crocker and intermittently threw in a "Joe" or two in other song lyrics. And for the yelpers with a sweet tooth, 3 Babes and a Baker baked charming cupcakes that were gone in less than 45 min. Even cake-hater Lindsay B loved 'em: "The cupcakes were delish! (That means a lot coming from me because I am not a cake fan)."

Fuze was also in da' house making sure Elites were staying hydrated, giving away bottles to all guests and supplying cases to a few lucky yelpers whose names were drawn in the raffle. And special thanks to Columbus Food Adventures and the Central Ohio Arthritis Foundation Wine and Dine for providing discounted or free tickets that were also given away.

Yelp Phoenix's Boot Scootin' Elite Hoe Down

Last night, 150 lucky Phoenix Yelp Elite cowboys and cowgirls two stepped their way to Rustlers Rooste for a rootin’ tootin’ Yelp Elite Hoe Down. In true yelper fashion, guests busted out the boots, belt buckles and cowboy hats and hitched up for the night at the legendary Phoenix steakhouse. Horny, the Rooste's very own pampered bull, welcomed yelpers and if that wasn't enough, a slide eagerly awaited those brave enough to take the plunge straight to the boot scootin' night that awaited them below.

Many tried fresh rattlesnake for the first time while others filled their plates with buffalo wings, deep fried cheese with marinara sauce, spinach dip, fruit, veggies, loaded potato skins, Cajun prime rib strips, fried zucchini and mushrooms, deep fried jalapeno poppers and pinwheels. Oh and who could forget about the cotton candy and ice cream cow pies to end the meal with a sweet twist!

San Francisco Yelpers Come On Town to The Pub!

Last night, hordes of San Francisco Yelp Elites gathered at The Pub @ Ghirardelli Square for the Come On Down Elite Event! Well known for their upscale pub grub and fab views of the San Francisco waterfront, piquant eats were never too hard to find. Between the slow-roasted BBQ pork ribs, tater tots, hush puppies, pulled pork sliders, brisket tacos, truffle mac and cheese, and buffalo wings... in addition to breezy summertime libations from SKYY vodka, there were plenty of goodies on hand to make sure everyone forgot about the massive, unseasonable heat wave that was tearing through the Bay Area!

Tots  Sliders  Skyy

And in keeping with the "Come On Down" theme, we hosted trivia where yelpers were divided into teams of 8 and asked brain teasers such as "Who had ROTD today and for what business?" and "What was the topic of the last Weekly Yelp in San Francisco?" among others. Ultimately one team walked away victorious with limited edition Yelp pint glasses and some sweet CDs donated to the cause by Sony Music. As Lauren S yelped, "This event was definitely one not to be missed ,and sorry to all those who did miss it..."

East Bay Elites Go Vintage at VeSu!

Posted by Monica

It was a starry triple-digit night in Walnut Creek, California... but near record high temperatures couldn't keep East Bay's finest from donning their torrid Mad Men-esque wears as Yelpers sipped on old school libations and danced the night away at VeSu.

As guests entered the restaurant's minimalist, chic digs, they were greeted by a smorgasbord for the senses. In proper choose your own adventure style, would they start by puffing away on Ploom's smokeless tobacco in the Ploom Room? Or engage a bartender to concoct a Mad Men Manhattan, Blood and Sand, or classic Vesper? Should their mouth desire a tingle, IZZE sparking juice was on hand mixing bevies both alcoholic and non. Even smartphones got the royal treatment with Coveroo offering free laser engraving! To keep the buzz going elites got to swill different wine varietals compliments of Underdog Wine Merchants. Who could say no to a wine called Cupcake with some of their latest summer varietals, including their crisp Sauvignon Blanc and velvety Pinot Noir.

The swinging time didn't stop with drinks and activities, as Stephanie M reports, "I couldn't help but notice the incredible, amazing voice that lulled me to her direction: Loe & the Nastys, hot damn!" Equipped with _MG_7266 an upright bass and full band behind her, the sexy, siren songstress, bewitched guests with her jazzy, sultry bossa nova style. Ready for a makeover, the ladies of Yelp treated their locks to transformative process. Flat hair turned into a beehive fit for the 60s and tendrils ran rampant thanks to Salon Epiffani. Even the wait staff had pearls and pumps to show off! Of course we'd be remiss without splurging on the food offerings with favorites including: smoked paprika lamb kofta with spicy harissa and sumac, black pepper glazed chicken wings with wigenburg tomatoes, watermelon-habañero gazpacho with cucumber yogurt, citrus braised pork arepas with poblano pudding, chorizo fritters and more!

Endless thanks to our amazing sponsors and VeSu staffers for hosting such a remarkable event. Everyone was dressed to the nines and donned their Mad Men best... even the wait staff sported pearls, pumps, and blazers! Extra thanks to Yelparazzi for documenting the epic evening: James M Ngo Photography and Will Anzenberger Photography. Twin Cities Elites Stay Cool At The Yelp Smash Social!

Posted by Annie D

The Minnesota summer heat-wave finally broke in time for the Yelp Smash Social at SmashBurger in St. Anthony, where Yelp Elites and their guests were treated to a VIP burger experience and a cool breeze!

Smashburger11 Smashburger

Elites were welcomed to the patio by Founder Tom Ryan, who flew in special to hang out with this special group of yelpers, in addition to the incomparable Alexis Walsko and Becca Bijoch of Lola Red PR.

Before ordering the burger, sandwich or salad of their dreams, Elites tasted an assortment of smashsides, including smashfries (made with sweet potatoes), veggie frites and salt-and-peppery fried pickles that aren't even on the menu yet!

Elites didn't go thirsty either, with Smashburger serving up beer and wine, as well as samples of their creamy Oreo shakes.

Smashburger3 Smashburger7

The locally inspired Twin Cities Burger was a popular choice with melted cheeses, garlic grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and mayo on an onion bun. Ronnie and Jenny G declared it "better than a Jucy Lucy... and it doesn't burn you with lava cheese."

Smashburger8 Hulksmash

Party goers took turns smashing their own burgers in the kitchen, and outside, the Hulk Smash Hands were put to good use... on each other.

If you were able to attend the event, don't forget to leave your smashing review!

Silicon Valley Yelp's Sneak Peek of Osteria Coppa

Posted by Connie Chang

Last night, Silicon Valley yelpers accepted an offer they couldn't refuse: attend an exclusive preview of San Mateo's newest Italian restaurant, Osteria Coppa, set to open to the public on Wednesday, August 25th. Dapper men of Yelp rocked Don Corleone full tuxedos, while women slipped into curvy form fitting pin-up dresses to get into full Godfather era character.

Eager to cool off from the warm San Mateo sun, yelpers grabbed wine glasses to sample a wealth of amazing local wineries, ranging from Ridge Winery, Skylark Winery, Kris and Batastiolo from Youngs, and Domenico Wines. Phew. If you think that's a mouthful, get ready for the absolutely decadent menu bites concocted by Chef Chanan Kamen's masterful hands and then passed around with astounding ease by skilled servers. Drool worthy samples of foodie heaven that circulated throughout the night were duck prosciutto with melon and mint, Japanese octopus with cranberry bean puree, local halibut tartare with watermelon radish, butter poached bay scallops with fava beans, porcini tortelloni with villa manadori balsamico, dungeness crab fritelle with preserved orange mayonaisse, vitello tonnato with celery heart and pantelleria capers, carne cruda, main lobster and lemon verbena crostini, salumi misti, red and gold beet chips with smoked trout, laughing bird shrimp and lemon verbena crostini, assorted artisan pizza, and desserts including espresso semifreddo and polenta lemon bars.

Save A Horse Ride A Yelper Bachelor(ette) Elite Party

Yeeeeeeehaw! On a heated summer evening in San Diego Yelp Elites saddled up in the Gaslamp at the Double Deuce for the "Save A Horse Ride a Yelper" Bachelor(ette) Party. No official bride or groom was in the house, but one can bet several yelpers got bloody Mary'ed the day after to rid themselves of a hangover.

Picnik collage Cowbachelor(ettes) chowed down on a massive buffet style spread of food from Encore Catering with everything from chicken kebabs to mini quesadillas while liquid courage courtesy of Pinky Vodka and Makers Mark helped guests cowboy up to the mechanical bull and pole dancing lessons from Fun Pole Fitness

Picnik collage cowboy A slideshow of past Yelp party photos played throughout the evening inspiring more of the same, and even a few half naked hotties showed up with some Yelp junk in their trunk. Capping off the evening was a raffle delivering event tickets, and DVD's to some lucky winners while the rest of the gang was happy to boogie down with the Deuce Dancers.

Yelp Paris Elite Scream For Mary's Ice Cream (& Cake)

Posted by Zeva Bellel

Who needs St Tropez when the coolest place to be mid-August is in Paris eating artisanal, handmade ice cream? Yesterday the Paris Yelp Elite Squad were treated to an exclusive ice cream extravaganza at Mary’s gelateria where they were greeted in Italian by the ice cream queen whose eponymous shop has sparked a revolution on the Parisian sweet scene.

The 50 special guests packed into Mary’s candy-colored wonderland of pink, violet and cream before spilling out onto the street with their sweets in hand. David A went gaga for the “cool, pink space and the Italian hostess who spoiled us silly with her frozen delights.”

Decked out in her signature pink Mary served up five of her favorite flavors: peach and champagne, her award-winning coffee, a sumptuous mango sorbet, an amazing amaretto, a perfectly simple cream, and a rich chocolate with Himalayan salt crystals. But the showstopper was by far the new Yelp flavor that Mary concocted especially for the event. A genius blend of orange flower water and pistachio, the combo knocked the socks off everyone, including Thornaad C who said that “the Yelp flavor combined two of my most favorite ingredients in the world.”

IMG_2079 IMG_1959

Who knew that Mary could bake too? In addition to her fabulous ice cream, Mary wowed guests with a selection of homemade cakes and pies, including an ice-cream filled pannetone, two fruit tarts, and a tiramisu “made with home made biscuits,” that blew Fabrice F to bits. To wash it all down, the Yelpers chose between an Alsatian white and a sparking rosé that paired perfectly with the desserts.

In their full-on sugar highs, guests buzzed on home to write about their evening. Omid T found it “Cool. Comfortable. No pretense. Totally my thing,” while the always hilarious Jessi B snarked, “Thanks Mary! Thanks a lot. My jeans don't fit me, AGAIN!”

Project Yelpway Elite Event at Azalea!

Retreating into Hayes Valley boutique Azalea from the San Francisco wind and cold, Yelpers from all over the Bay Area eagerly perused through rows and rows of stylish and hip threads, as they sashayed 'round the store in unique summer scarves, garage band–approved skinny jeans, Toms Shoes, and much more at one of the city's finest indie-chic boutiques.

As Yelpers shopped for a new wardrobe, they were able to devour insanely adorable Mission Minis cupcakes, with stand-out flavors like the Blueberry Cupcake with cream cheese frosting and fresh blueberries, as well as Swiss Almond Coconut, Ruby Red Velvet, Cinnamon Horchata and more! Batch 19 Beer was on hand with heavy pours of their smooth pre-Prohibition ale, whose recipe was recently discovered in the archives of the Coors Brewing Facility in Golden, Colorado, while Blue Angel Vodka whipped up strong fruity elixirs paired with sparkling IZZE juice. Buzzed from a never-ending supply of strong drinks throughout the night,  Yelpers also made their way over to The Laugh Box photo booth to capture all of the good times! Boston Elites Celebrate Summer With a Little Swing!

Under a clear sky and cooling temperatures, Yelp Boston Elites gathered on the glorious patio of The Charles Hotel, better known as Charles Square, for an alfresco evening designed to get your booty moving and celebrate all that is sensational about Summer!

Anastasia Jason Chacha Maureen

Walking into the square, yelpers and esteemed guests were greeted by the sweet sounds of The Beantown Swing Orchestra, featuring the Sinatra-esque crooning of American Idol Finalist, John Stevens! To keep things cool and get the party started, refreshing cocktails courtesy of Stoli were passed around the patio and Peak Organic Brewing Company was on hand pouring frosty brews all night long. And for a little extra pick-me-up, Jim's Organic Coffee kept everyone caffeinated with a complimentary coffee bar! Treats of all kinds delighted our palettes and pleased our bellies, including Beef Wellington, Lobster Popovers and Gazpacho, all from the mouth-watering kitchens of The Charles Hotel, Henrietta's Table and Rialto

After a little mingling and merrymaking, guests were treated to a cooking demonstration by executive chef and owner of Rialto, Jody Adams, who you may recognize from her recent appearance on Top Chef Masters, where she raised $17,500 for Partners in Health! She expertly walked us through a savory bluefish dish, while taking questions from the crowd about building better knife skills!

As if that was all, we then turned out attention to the center of the dance floor where Mike and Julie from Boston Swing Central gave us a little lesson on swing dancing, including step-by-step moves! They got the crowd shimmying all around the dance floor, as people kicked up their heels and spun round and round. Johnna M was most impressed by their teachings, praising Mike for being "a brave and kind soul for dancing with me after aforementioned said strong drinks!"

A big, big thank you to all of our amazing sponsors throughout this evening, and to Ariana, Elizabeth, Chef Peter Davis, Alex, Chef Jody Adams and Rebecca over at The Charles Hotel, Henrietta's Table and Rialto for helping to make this event a smashing success! Catch a glimpse of swinging fun here, captured by Tatsu I, catch up on gossip on Talk and read what party-goers have to say about the festivities here. Brooklyn: Sin City?

Posted by peter d.

The best of Yelp NYC wound their way on Wednesday night to Williamsburg's The Counting Room for a little bit of sin and gin. (OK fine, a LOT of both.) Between bowties and blazers, Brooklynites dressed to impress, and of course, kept it classy.

Screen shot 2010-08-19 at 4.59.37 PM  Screen shot 2010-08-19 at 4.47.55 PM Screen shot 2010-08-19 at 4.51.56 PM Screen shot 2010-08-19 at 4.58.52 PM

Vince, the masterful mixologist manning the venue's subterranean cocktail bar, took Breuckelen Distilling Company's gin (handmade from scratch, using only raw ingredients, this local product is of the highest quality), and cooked up The Gowanus Fizz, a refreshing libation lovely on such a hot evening. After several (:: cough :: seven :: cough ::), I know Rusty R was rocking out.

The cocktails were complemented by both pear and apple Original Sin cider and delicious bar snacks courtesy of the Counting Room kitchen, like mini grilled cheese sandwiches and perfect little crostini. All in all, it was a swanky soiree to remember. A huge thank you goes out to Ruth and The Counting Room staff for welcoming the Yelp Elite into the beautiful bar. If you made it, make sure you review your experience here.

Dallas Disco Mania!

Posted by Nikki B

Dallas Elites and guests got down last night for Yelp Disco Mania at Cosmo's Bar & Lounge. Dressed in their best retro outfits, they danced the night away to classic disco tunes spun by a that's-so 70s DJ! Bell bottoms, afros and psychedelic frocks oh my! Can someone say, shake that groove thang?!

  IMG_1213 IMG_1195IMG_1252

Cosmo's treated everyone to their famous giant pizzas, which kept coming out of the kitchen in an endless stream to feed those hungry dancing shoes. Texas brands were well represented also – Lone Star beer was in the house to hand out their tasty brew, and Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka won the hearts of many tea lovers in the crowd.

IMG_1200 IMG_1207 IMG_1204

Lone Star also sponsored the raffle prizes, awarding pairs of tickets for a chartered bus ride to and from the Bash at the Brewery in San Antonio to 2 lucky winners. A pair of tickets also went to the two winners of the Disco Costume Contest! Yowza!

The Village People ain't got nothin' on Dallas! Check out what these Macho Men (and Women) had to say about their Disco Mania, and see the photos for proof!

Yelp Chicago Gets Its Fill Of 'Fest!

Posted by Johnny Todd

They came from over eight states and two countries (only one continent, though) to experience the Yelp party of the year. Not even her GaGa-ness could keep more than 3500 yelpers away from the biggest Yelp party in history: Yelp Summerfest 2010! Excited party-goers from far and wide descended upon the Irish American Heritage Center for an all-out assault on the senses (in a good way - 'natch).

Picture 5 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4

Where to begin? 'Beer' seems like a good place to start... and with 21 craft beers at the tap, thrilled attendees thought it was a good place to end, as well. The Yelp Beer Garden played host to: Daisy Cutter Pale Ale, Gossamer Golden Ale, Crispin Original (draught), Fox Barrel Pear (draught), Blue Moon Honey Moon, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, Samuel Adams Summer Ale, Mike's Hard Lemonade, Mike's Hard Black Cherry Lemonade, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada Summer Fest, Woodchuck Amber, Magic Hat #9, Pyramid Haywire Hefeweizen, Shiner Bock, Trumer Pils, BridgePort IPA, BridgePort Hop Czar, and Newcastle Summer Ale. The Elite Lounge, however, was the only place one could find (and vote on) Samuel Adams Beer Lover's Choice - American Rye Ale and Samuel Adams Beer Lover's Choice - Belgian-Style IPA. Democracy never tasted so good.

Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 5 Picture 6

Lest one think that Chicagoans only stick to suds, Rain Vodka, Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and Maker's Mark Bourbon provided luscious liquor libations for the crowd. Nor were the teetotalers left out in the rain (ha!) because they had their choice of Honest Tea, AMP Energy Drink, Izze Sparkling Juice, Monster Energy, and Cran-Energy. It's Summer in Chicago. You have to stay well-hydrated!

Picture 4 4902175552_37d035552a_b Picture 3 4901590057_79bd4a4fe5_b

You also need to stay well-fed. Again, this is Yelp Chicago. We've got you covered. Feeding the masses were the food phenoms of Dawali Mediterranean Kitchen, Starfruit, Chen's Chinese & Sushi, Koi, Isla Pilipina, Il Giardino Del Dolce, SuVans Cafe & Bakeshop, Italiasia, La Gondola Italian Restaurant, Delightful Pastries, Kama Bistro, Mio Bento, Salted Caramel, and Domino's Pizza. And, for the kid in everyone, popcorn and three flavors of sno-cones (not including combos)!

Yelpers' eyes weren't the only things smilin' at all the wall-to-wall entertainment going on. The incredible live music of Ode kept the crowd rockin', while the smooth grooves of Cage & Aquarium Productions kept them chillin'. ActionBooth made sure the party stayed jumpin' jumpin' while Infuse Yoga Spa bent guests into shape. Kelly Cardenas Salon created hair heaven while the make-up marvels of Strange Beauty Show brought out the inner beauty of all who sat in their chairs. Trish Page painted on the colors and Ellen Lustig preserved the look in caricature while the sensations from ShutterBooth did so in photos. What to do when you're gussied up and moved to the music? Why, you watch the brazen burlesque of Vaudezilla's Donna Touch & Cherry Brandi.

Suds. Drinks. Food. Fun... and Doing Good. In the midst of all the revelry, guests donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Concern Worldwide. And, we all know the best way to donate to a good cause is by dunking yelpers! All the action was captured by fantastic photogs Mike Fan and Damir Ara. You can check out all their pictures here. ActionBooth's motion magic is here. ShutterBooth's stunning portraits are here. You can read what folks had to say about the shin dig here. As they left with goodie bags full of buttons, Yelpstick and crates of beverages, guests knew that another Summerfest had come and gone — but not before it saw 1,000,000 faces (well, 3500+) and rocked them all!

Yelp OC Gets Brat-y at Augtoberfest!

Posted by Hazel Q

Guten Tag, Yelpers! When there's this much beer, bratwurst and sing-alonging on a Tuesday night, it only means one thing - the Yelp Elite squad is in the building. At Old World Restaurant in Huntington Beach last night, Express Band got yelpers in the mood with everything from oompah, to The Beatles, to (of course) The Chicken Dance.

4903362901_77d53a4ff2_b 4903999050_398f110451_b 4903395509_9908be1153_b 4903994320_034d25b5c9_b

After some delicious brats, fall-off-the-bone ribs, and German Chocolate Cake from Old World, the dancefloor didn't stay empty long... especially not after a few "Killer-bombs" from Killepitsch and beers from Warsteiner. Yelpers kept the Oktoberfest theme going with a traditional competition of strength: the beer stein holding competition. Prizes for the winners? A Shake Weight, of course!

Documenting the whole evening was the dashing (and soon to be published) Albert E as well as the ever-so-charming duo from Don Le Photography - Paolo Ongkeko and Don Le, himself (not to mention the lovely model for the photobooth - Jessica Hana Lee)!

Yelp scream's: Murphy's ICE-CREAM!!!

Posted by Annie

Ice-cream is magical I think we can all agree on that. Murphy's Ice Cream with flavours such as Dingle Sea Salt, Burnt Caramel, Pink Champagne Sorbet, Dark Chocolate with handmade chocolate chips, Brown Bread, Fresh Mint, and Kilbeggan Whiskey is like a unicorn on a surfboard ice-cream kind of magical - oh yeah!

        Hugo1     Hugo2    Hgo4

Dublin's Yelp Elite Squad assembled this month at Murphy's Ice Cream on Wicklow street. Lured in by Thea and her terrific team of ice-cream keepers of taste bud inducing joy! The knowledgeable team answered all the curious Yelpers questions such as the history of Murphy's Ice Cream, the ice-cream making process and what drives them to be the best!

           1    2

An ice-cream Sunday station was set up on a surfboard, yes a surfboard! The Dublin Yelp Elites took turns making their own concoctions with lots of yummy ingredients and of course ice-cream! It was like home-economics in school all over again, except much more fun because there was no angry teacher and we were not making fish pies... No, we were making Sundae heaven with Murphy's Ice Cream!

        3    4    5

Thank you so much to the Murphy's Ice Cream team for treating us to a fantastic evening. Thank you also to Thea for her terrific planning and to Sean and Kieran Murphy for being so welcoming to Yelp Dublin. The talented Ian Oliver of Letcombe Photography snapped the fun, the photos can be viewed here and see what people are saying in the reviews or pen your own opinion here! Or catch up on the post chat here!

Much thanks to everyone, I always look forward to our Elite Events because Dublin Yelpers know how to rock it out!

All my best,

Yelp Cops Barley Pops at City Tap House

IMG_2378 IMG_2398 IMG_2314

Philadelphia Elites converged on City Tap House last night for an evening of free-flowing conviviality across the river in West Philly, better known as Yelp Cops Barley Pops!

Barley Pops, an admittedly out-of-fashion synonym for beer, emerged as the theme when Community Manager Felicia D and City Tap House beverage director Andy Farrell determined there just aren't enough beer cocktails in the world

Fabulously generous hook-ups from local craft breweries, including Sly Fox (Phoenixville, PA), Prism Brewing (North Wales, PA), Brooklyn Brewery (Brooklyn, NY) and Original Sin Cider (NY, NY) were the base of our alchemical admixtures. Bottles of cheer from Combier (original French orange triple sec) and ROOT liquor (Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired spice liquor), along with handmade syrups and fresh juices, completed the science experiment.

the Brooklyn Dutch (Brooklyn Brown Ale, ROOT liquor, homemade vanilla bean syrup)

the French Fox (Sly Fox Royal Weisse, Combier, orange)

Summer Apple Shandy (Original Sin cider, lemonade)

Prism Brewing Bitto Honey IPA (too unique to mess with!)

Chef Al Paris and his dedicated crew whipped out 50+ pizzas (!) from their brick oven, plus sinfully carbalicious deep-fried mac & cheese bites, shrimp skewered with spicy chorizo and teeny potatoes stuffed with Vacheron blue cheese and filet.

IMG_2379 IMG_2361 IMG_2335

Thusly sated, we turned our attention to the rootsy musical stylings of local folk-rockers TJ Kong & the Atomic Bomb, who pleased ears with foot-tapping tunes complete with fiddle! Once the summer rainstorm ceased, outdoorsy types took to the expansive balcony, complete with meadow-like green roof and firepits, for some al fresco lounging.

Orlando Yelpers Get Sweet With Cupcakes and Fro-YO!

Posted by Colleen Burns

It was pretty risky planning a Sunday morning Elite Event for the Orlando Yelpers since Saturday night in O-Town is always bumpin'... However, when you mention Cupcakes, Fro-Yo and Makers Mark, everyone comes a runin'!! Orlando Elites invaded Sweet by Good Golly Miss Holly yesterday morning and left full, happy and ready to start their week with a bang!

Picnik collage

Local celebrity baker, Miss Holly, recent winner of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network, graced us with her sweet presence and treated our Elites to a rare taste of two winning cupcakes: White chocolate pistachio cake filled with vanilla custard and iced with a raspberry buttercream & chocolate chip Nutella swirled cake with dulce de leche buttercream and espresso sugar. (HOLY YUMMO!)

Not only did we scarf down amazing cupcakes, we also swam in as much fro-yo as we could handle. From French Vanilla to Watermelon flavors, the fro-yo was flowin’!

To help quench our thirst, our lovely friends over at Honest Tea presented us healthy, organic beverages with a smile! And for those who were ready for a kick in the butt to start their Saturday morning, we indulged in refreshing Makers Mark mint julep cocktails.

Chatter was loud, tummies were full, pallets were pleased, and the talented Jim White caught everything on camera! Head over to the Yelp Flickr page to check out the beams of light that are our Orlando Yelpers on an early Sunday morning!  Also make sure to read the reviews to hear what fellow Yelpers thought of this tasty event.

Huge thanks to Orlando Live for stopping in and adding some local flavor and vibrance while interviewing and taping all of the awesome moments taking place. Our piece will air live on Sunday, August 29th at 9pm. Tune in: Orlando Live!

Yelp Vancouver Does Dimsum For Dinner

Posted by Crystal H

Catching the "Orient Express" last night, Vancouver's Yelp Elite and their guests were dumpling-ed on at Wild Rice.

Spotted prawn toast, Sloping Hills Pork Sui Mai, vegan "bacon," mini vegetarian curry dumplings and more danced across our lips. We learned how to pair our Asian dishes with Gray Monk's Pinot Auxerrois. At the bar Banff Ice made refreshing passionfruit and ginger collins and Whistler Brewery's Export Lager hit the summer heat spot. Simon K sums it up best, "Coming from a first timer, I did not know what to expect, but the food, it just kept coming. Plate after plate, plenty of people, and food to go around."

Meanwhile upstairs, JMB Photography 's Photobooth had yelpers bonking (inflatable mallets, of course), fanning, taping and dressing up in Hello Kitty style in front of a background hand crafted by our yelpy intern, Tania Y.

Drool over the reviews and find your candid, prepped and posed pics on the official Flickr page.

Until our next playtime, SYOY

Portland Yelpers Keep Street Lunch Kla$sy With A Food Cart Flash Mob!

Posted by Don Bourassa

Portland Yelpers sure know how to do lunch at the food carts in style. While others stand around on a sidewalk trying to hold food with one hand and eat with another, all while avoiding dripping on their business casual, the PDX Elite roll heavy and bring street-side dining to a whole new level.

CIMG0005SM CIMG0010SM Table chargersSM

On Friday the 13th, a flash-mob of Portland Yelpers descended upon the SW 3rd and Washington food cart pod with a table, table-cloth, chairs, and even gold chargers (thanks to Jen K)! With a group as big as 25 at one point and the temperatures hovering near 90, the cart-food from Built to Grill, Gin Northern Thai, Korean Twist, Portland Smoothie Co and more was enjoyed by all. Add in the popsicles and ice-cream sandwiches Jeannie J brought for dessert were a HUGE hit!

A big thanks to all of the Yelpers, both new and old-school, who braved this gorgeous afternoon to come out and eat some of the best street food in the world. A huge thanks to Jen K and Jeannie for bringing some fun accoutrement. Next time, I'm bringing a candelabra.

Until then, SYOY!

Yelp's With The Band! - San Antonio August YEE!

Yelp San Antonio Elites partied like rock stars for Yelp's With The Band! at Limelight. A crowd of 80+ donned ripped jeans, leather jackets, and trucker hats, as Alamo City yelpers rocked the night away in SA!

The night began with each Elite receiving the first-ever batch of lunchboxes. Yelpers danced to the sultry sounds of DJ's Deacos and Le Doom, while sippin' on Maker's Mark cocktails and bottomless (The Official Beer of Texas) Lonestar Beer!

IMG_2139_SR IMG_2252_SR IMG_2152_SR
Lonestar Beer also sponsored a really remarkable raffle where eight lucky yelpers won t-shirts and super-sought after tickets to the Lonestar Bash At The Brewery! The night only got hotter as Marcus Rubio and The Gospel Choir Of Pillows took the stage and gave yelpers front row seats to an energetic and amazing show! We've come to expect VIP treatment after all, Yelp's With The Band!

Seattle Yelpers Get Lei'd In South Lake Union!

Posted by Katy

It was a foodie's paradise in sleepy South Lake Union this Monday night in Seattle. Rockin' their best Hawaiian shirts yelpers came from all over town to be wined and dined at 4, yes 4 local businesses!

4880455093_60d9bbdb8f_m 4881082804_f2d09d6bbd_m 4881085272_bd06cd2076_m

Kickin' things off in style the folks from Vulcan and the South Lake Union Discovery Center greeted guests with Hawaiian leis, Yelp schwag and super cool goodie bags! Everyone was given coupons to local South Lake Union businesses, tickets for free food samples at the much anticipated South Lake Union Block Party, complimentary sunglasses and more!

After mixing and mingling the large group was split into three. Outfitted with Hawaiian leis and color-coated name tags, Elites and their guests divided into red, blue and green dining groups. With matching maps and group leaders each time headed off to one of three neighboring restaurants.

Tutta Bella spared no expense with their nummy Neapolitan style pizzas. With fresh pies popping out of the oven every 4 minutes, it was not hard for yelpers to devour all 3 varieties of pizza on their quick 40 minute tour. And what better way to wash pizza down than with booze? Guests were treated to a choice of beer from Big Al Brewing, champagne or a mixed drink. Fresh made tiramisu was also on hand for those that still had belly room!

A quick walk down a block and dining groups were also treated like royalty at Flying Fish. Opening up a VIP room where guests could meet the head chef was just the tip of the iceberg as trays of crab cakes and other delectable were on hand to pair with a nice glass of Rose´.

Still not full? Rounding the night out the lovely team at Portage Bay Cafe also offered their talent for this event. Yet another block from the other two spaces, this beautiful restaurant opened its doors late-night to give Elites a sample of their catering menu. Whether it was risotto balls or lamb burgers, all that was left at the end of the night was a room full of smiling faces and loosened belts!

Kansas City Elites Have TelYELPathy!

Posted by Joi

Our Elites have been not unlike the Great Zoltars of Kansas City, giving yelpers sage advice on where to find the best local businesses in town. We like to think they must have telYELPathy to be able to do this...but could they have predicted such a smashing good time was to be had at Nica's Cafe on Monday night?

Fortunetellerswag Tabbooth2  Insideshot3 Groupshot1

Guests entered and checked in with The Great Tabitha M who handed everyone a tarot card to be read by our tarot card reader for the evening, Gypsy Joan. Despite the 100 degree weather this evening, Nica's patio was shaded, so dining alfresco was a less sweaty affair.

Outside2 Outside3 Tigerheather2 Gypsyjoantiger2

While listening to the tunes of BTO on stage, everyone enjoyed tea-infused cocktails like the Gypsy's Jewels, Dirty Elite Martini (muffaletta garnish) and Crystal Ball (with gunpowder mint tea!)

Cocktails Cocktailfortune  Band1  Insideshot2

Then there was the food. Oh, the food...After each table got to sample Nica's scrumptious pizzas, there were four courses to follow: Margarita salad, Thai lasagna, and Nica's new specialty build your own mac & cheese. Was it possible to save room for more? Like anyone could resist the variety of beignets (caramel apple, chocolate truffle and plain). Now there was a full spread (and we're not talking tarot cards here!)

  Pizza Salad Mac Beignet

Everyone wanted to try their hand at being a carny fortune teller (showing off their mad Zoltarian skillz)!

Let's not forget, it was fortuitous indeed to see so many new faces, like Sarah D, Shana S, Chris B, Briana O, Nancy K, Jess J, Stacy N and Mnason M.

Special thanks to: Bryan, Monica, Phil and the staff of Nica's Cafe, Marie F and Vince P for taking such killer photos, Gypsy Joan for giving up her positive energy to so many yelpers, Colleen C, Regional Lead for the Midwest, for helping us out tonight, BTO for providing us with music for the evening, and Sazerac/Glaziers for providing vodka.

See all the pix on the flickr page. Read the reviews. An excerpt from one of our favorites by Angela K: "I was so enamored with the drinks and food that I didn't mingle as much as I would have.  I just couldn't tear myself away!  The pizza was delicious, the Thai lasagna was delightful and unexpected.  And the mac & cheese...YUM!"

Until next time, SYOY!

Yelp's LA West Elite Squad tightened their black belts in Yelp and headed to newly opened Rok Sushi in Hermosa Beach last night for a karate-chopping, high-kicking good time.

In keeping with the fierce Bruce Lee theme, Rok's bartenders served up a steady stream of their famous "Bruce Leemonade" cocktail as well as their popular watermelon-cucumber cooler. Rok Saké was also on hand to serve up tastings of their premium Sake.

When they weren't slurping these irresistable libations, the Elites and their guests munched on an impressive offering of Japanese appetizers, specialty rolls and handmade desserts courtesy of the Rok Sushi kitchen.

Yelp's Endless Summer BBQ and Pool Party in STL

Posted by Abby Schwarz

Even though August is all about back-to-school and the stores are already previewing fall fashions, there's nothing wrong with squeezing that last little bit out of summer while there's still time! And anyone who's been to St. Louis knows that it's hot, humid and sticky here right now, so what better way to cool down than to have a BBQ and pool party?!

HotPool Party 1GatorTim and Erin

Mansion House Apartments hosted Yelp STL's Endless Summer Party on their rooftop deck, with a beautiful pool and amazing views of the downtown. You're so close to the Arch that feels like you could reach out and touch it!

Arch view1Danyelle and SeanJackieDowntown2

Pappy's Smokehouse served up their famous ribs, Blues City Deli provided sandwich trays and there was a salsa competition between Elites. Local "celebrities" Adam "Pablo" Tilford, Scott Roberts and Stef Pollack were our guest judges for the evening. The grand prize salsa winner received a night's stay at the Millennium Hotel St. Louis. And Gelateria Tavolini delivered gelato in cups for everyone to cool down their mouths after tasting all of that spicy goodness! And of course it's not a Yelp party without drinks, so there were refreshing Firefly Peach Sweet Tea Vodka cocktails as well as a kiddy pool full of Fat Tire and VitaminWater.

But by far, the best part of the night was when Elites and their guests bared all and jumped into the pool! Those brave souls were rewarded with cool water and a game of beach dodgeball.

The event went so swimmingly that it's gotten a perfect 5-star rating so far. Don't believe it? Read the reviews here! Our fave so far is John D's:

"In the future, people from St. Louis will ask each other where they were on August 9, 2010, and when people say they were ANYWHERE other than at the Yelp rooftop pool party, we shall only be able to shake our heads and look upon them with pity because they missed out on the greatest Monday night of all time."

Stay cool and enjoy the rest of your summer!

NYC Elites Get Lucky At Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge

Manhattan's best sure were feeling frisky this past Friday, August 6th. Kicking off a red hot weekend with some debauchery on the west side of 42nd Street at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge, Yelp Elites indulged in some beers, balls and bodacious eats in the swank secluded alcove of the Luxe Lounge. Taking over the private lanes, pool table and white leather couches, it was hard for Elites not to feel like winners - even if they only rolled a 56 (Chun!).

  Picture 1 Picture 5 Picture 8
For those looking to score big, buckets of Harpoon's UFO and IPA got the ball rolling while the thirstycocktail set got sucking on complimentary Red Delicious cocktails straight off the Lucky Strike drink menu.

Picture 11 Picture 14 Picture 25

All that exercise had guests hankering for some small bites and Lucky Strike served some up with a bang! Yes, we mean more tomato & cheese s’mores, coconut shrimp, beef teriyaki skewers, bite size mac & cheese bites, California chicken bites with honey mustard sauce, and pancetta wrapped scallops than you can shake your tail at!

Picture 44 Picture 41 Picture 37
Whether you struck out or joined a league, Yelp Elites can all agree it was a ball. Still on pins and needles? Check out the reviews and photos from the event to see for yourself!

Portland Yelp Elites Were On A (Love) Boat

Posted by Don Bourassa

Portland Elites got decked out in their finest yacht wear and set sail for a two hour tour on Departure Urban Lounge’s Lido (aka West) deck this last Saturday, August 6th, for an afternoon of captain’s-table-worthy drinks, food, and sheer summertime fun. All aboard as we cruise through another mind-blowing Yelp Elite event!

Drinx Don n Bob

Just as the clouds broke and the first rays of sun peeked through, the cruise-wear-bedecked Yelp Elites led by Orian L were whisked up the 15 floors to Departure’s roof-top balcony where food and drink awaited. Welcomed with lei’s and captain’s hats, Anna S and Brandi P sipped on cocktails made with local House Spirits brand new shochu (not even yet released!) and Krongstad Aquavit. Those shochu Mai Tai’s and Swedish (Singapore) Slings sure did cool Patrick S and Jeannie J down. Meanwhile, Bob S and Troy SNinkasi’s Total Domination IPA and their delicious seasonal Summer Radiant ale. With 22oz bottles in hand, there wasn’t a frown in the crowd. And not to be left out, wine drinkers like Kyle F were treated to a sampling of Oregon’s own A to Z Wines, including a fantastic dry Reisling, their classic Pinot Noir, and the luscious Night and Day red blend. There was nary a dry palate in the house!

  Group Landscape GroupLandscape

Of course, drinking in the afternoon sun is no easy task for empty bellies, so the amazing folks at Departure provided a staggering array of dishes, including Steelhead Nigiri with Furikake; Chili Prawns; Kani Avocado Rolls with Dungeness Crab; Departure Chicken Wings with daikon; crispy pork belly skewers; pickled watermelon, ginger and pumpkin Seed skewers; chicken samosas with scallion yogurt; Yakitori - yuzu chicken skewers; Harami Goma Tara - Wagyu skirt steak skewers with black sesame sauce; Kushiyaki - grilled red potatoes, Korean chili mayo or pickled vegetables (vegan); papaya salad with crystallized tamarind, peanut and lime (1/2 made vegan); Summer Vegetable Sushi Roll (vegan); watermelon skewers with cherry tomato and Thai basil (vegan). Um... yeah. The food just kept coming, and coming and coming, and as fast as it came, the incredible staff was whisking away skewers, spent plates, silverware, and used glasses. Talk about an amazing army of folks, from the bartenders to the food-servers, the Departure crew brought their A+ game.

A huge thanks to Bette for taking incredible photos, to Connie C for traveling all the way from SV to help, to Stephen S for running backup, to Matt Mount for the amazing spirits, to Morgan Miller and the fine folks from Ninkasi, to Mike Wilson for the very fine A to Z wines, to Kara Sherman and the incredible staff from Departure Urban Lounge, Chef Gregory Gourdet, for blowing our minds and our palates, and most of all, to you, the Yelp Elite Squad, for being the best cruise passengers a captain could ever ask for.

Yelpers Get White Hot and Bubbalicious

Posted by Olivia L

Sunday was a fun day, indeed, with more than 120 Elites and their guests spending the afternoon in a bubbly-induced haze at Bisla’s Sports Bar for the White Hot Bubble Elite Event. Bisla’s, Three Olives and Hangar One put on quite the show with an event that really popped!

Katie B shares her experience in a review that popped:

“I felt like as soon as I walked in, I was no longer in Sacramento. The interior and outside area are very swanky and upscale. White leather seating and luxurious little cabanas for the ultimate comfort of your gluts. Everyone was dressed to impress at this event. When I said that I no longer felt like I was in Sacramento, it was because I thought that I was teleported to P-Diddy's white party in the Hamptons. But I actually liked this event more than his. The people are a lot less snotty and I hate showing up in the same D&G "custom-made" outfit as one of the other celebrities--- so embarrassing!” Feel free to write your own review, here!

Picture 9 Picture 034

And on the attire side, Micah R and his plus one, Julie, took white to a whole new level, debonair-ing the hell out of the soiree while Joe K and Ida H (one of our Elite couples) decided that bubble wrap is the new black. We agree! Best accessories went to Elif F and Debbie P for her bubble wrap bow – she and the Elite Couple clearly coordinated ahead of time.

Picture 031Picture 44

Bonding, bubble gun wars and pop rock/booze experimenting amused event-goers while a group saddled up to the Hookah Bar, languidly telling stories of East Bay-Sacramento affinities and otherwise trying their O faces (see Three Olives details below) with hookah bubbles.

Picture 6Picture 15

In between dancing to the hypnotic beats of DJ and Elite Jon M, yelpers sipped on Lemon Drops, Mandarin Blossoms and just about anything they wanted mixed with Three Olives Bubble flavored vodka and Hangar One vodka. Coors also proved to be the perfect antidote for the afternoon heat.

Picture 055  Picture 5

When yelpers felt the munchies coming on, Bisla’s had a buffet of choices, literally! including scrumptious sliders with Hawaiian bread, spicy sweet chicken wings, bruschetta, shrimp cocktail and veggie sticks. For all the sports fans, Bisla’s invites you back for football season when they will be open on Sundays starting in September.

Passport to Little Tokyo Launch Party

Who needs to spend wads of cash on a plane ticket to Japan when we’ve got our very own Little Tokyo right in DTLA? Elite yelpers braved the heat last night to tune in(to) Little Tokyo!

The busted AC aside, Hold Up Art was such an awesome backdrop, keeping everyone on their sweaty toes with risque pieces from local artists. The early evening was kept lively with the easy-breezy beats of DJs La Muerte and Antidote. Elites and their plus ones donned big, cheesy smiles for Project Photobooth, and even went home with prints of their mugs!

Although we were in Little Tokyo, we were given quite the trip around the world with the taro tacos from The Far Bar, crepes from Four Leaf, and Mediterranean wraps from Spitz! The sponsors really outdid themselves on this one.

Buckets (upon buckets, upon buckets) of Kirin Ichiban or Light couldn't be replenished fast enough, but luckily there was plenty in stock! Palates were also kept refreshed with the Red, Rose, and White Sangria from Spitz, fresh-brewed iced teas from Four Leaf, and mint lemonade from The Far Bar! A big, big shout out goes to L.A. Works for getting all juiced up (literally) at the bar… all tips for the evening went back to a great cause.

Elites also had first dibs at limited copies of the Passport to Little Tokyo, so they will be seen invading the area all week long to take advantage of the stellar discounts on some of their fave (or soon to be fave) LT places. Lucky raffle winners won some excellent prizes, compliments of a few of Passport to Little Tokyo participants, like a gift certificate from Nail Service, two posters from Hold Up Art, and five design-your-own-t-shirt offers!

And, of course the party didn’t stop there! The Far Bar was kind enough to allow a rowdy Yelp crowd to take over their restaurant/lounge area and offered up some pretty sweet deals ($5 for Japanese craft brews that are regularly $10). Even though the Passport wasn’t technically in full effect yet, they had no problem handing out Yelp Cali Rolls to those that spent $10 or more.

And yes, there was even an after-after party, because that's just how LA Elites roll!

Seattle Gets Savory, Sexy and Sweet!

Posted by Katy

Seattle's Elite squad showed off their photography skills at their latest event in SODO this past Friday. Sharing more than just useful, funny and cool reviews with each other, these community members brought out the big guns with photos of savory, sexy and sweet foods! It was truly a titillating event as local art gallery, Ouch My Eye shared space in their current breast exhibit for a Yelp photo competition!

Yelp_OuchMyEye-15 Yelp_OuchMyEye-23 Yelp_OuchMyEye-73

To feed the hungry photogs and art fans, Herban Feast came to the rescue and provided some of the yummiest and most beautifully displayed appetizers yet. Guests mixed and mingled with friends while nibbling on trays of olives, cheese, crab cakes, a variety of puff pastries and more! And what's more fun than winning prizes? Winning the booby prize! The Erotic Bakery pulled out all of the stops with their sexy breast themed desserts for the winners of our photography competition. Congrats Sean T, Russell L, and Johnny W!

As if great food and great art wouldn't suffice, our friends from Super Deli & Grocery donated an ice cold keg filled with Ninkasi beer. A menu of cocktails mixed with Novo Fogo cachaca was also available. Word on the street is that the Red Tailed Parrot was a favorite that night! And for the DD's DRY Soda and Stumptown Coffee were on hand to provide tasty non-alcoholic options.

Yelp's First Date, c. 1985

Posted by Misti Yang
When Las Vegas's Italian institution Ferraro's opened its doors in 1985, the raddest dudes in town were bringing their Heathers and Sloanes to dine on the finest osso buco in town. So, 25 years later, it was time to make the magic happen again with "Yelp's First Date, c. 1985." Vegas Elites pulled out their penny loafers and ironed all their neon to make a totally tubular first impression!

_DSC6056   _DSC6126 _DSC6095

Yes, some did indeed wear their sunglasses last night, but that didn't prevent them from seeing the bodacious bites: smoked salmon and red pepper crostinis, fried risotto balls, meatballs and pizza. And, nobody had to fight for their right to get buzzed with 2Nite Vodka Cape Yelpers, Martini & Rossi Yelples & James Bellinis and Rock 'n Roll Wine's Reggae Rhapsody White.

_DSC6055 _DSC6069 _DSC6096
All the dudes and dudettes walked away with lifetime VIP cards to Ferraro's, which means for all their future dates they'll be scoring 25% off. And since Yelp is a real gentleman, all the ladies received long stemmed roses. And, don't you forget about... the raffle! Special prizes included a giant Nintendo controller from Altered Nation Designs and 20 commemorative t-shirts featuring a rather stylish Delorean.

For more radical details, be sure to check out the reviews and see some girls (and boys) on film (special thanks to Up All Day Creative for the photos!).

Hope there will be a second date!

Until then, see ya on Yelp!

What's Black and White and Yelped All Over?

The Black, White & Yelp Bash at Revolution of course! Jim, Teresa, Lyle and a 5-star stupendous staff opened their doors just for Triangle Elites this past Sunday and treated us to tastes of decadent dishes like oysters with watermelon-cucumber gazpacho and fried eggplant with black truffle cheese. But the divine desserts may have stolen the show! Jane W pines, "I would now like to profess my love to cayenne-spiced brownies with salted buttercream," and Lauren P yelps, "I've already made plans with my friends (new and old) to head back for apps and drinks. Revolution Rocks!" Throughout the course of the evening, the dishes were magically replenished – and just as magically disappeared ... in our bellies!

Yelpers matched the swanky-chic space in black and white duds with yelpy pops of red – and for many, it was all about the details...

Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4

Picture 5 Picture 22 Picture 11

Generous sponsors Harris Inc. and Winebow kept us quenched with a bevy of beers and a wonderful selection of Argentine wines that were in-theme – red (Tilia Malbec) and white (Tilia Torrontes) – themselves!

Picture 6
Picture 7 Picture 8 Picture 9

Some quirky fun in the form of a barnyard (those have zebras, right?) photobooth, catchy word bubbles and disposable black and white cameras ensured mixing, mingling and mild hilarity...

The best dressed of the evening were richly rewarded with prizes, and Lauren P (lucky dog!) won the raffle for a $50 Revolution gift card at her very first Elite Event!

I really can't thank our venue enough for all their support and energy on this event – or for their mouth-watering morsels! Missed it? You missed out! But catch up on the reviews right here – and check 'em out for the upcoming Abita brunch. Fun b&w photos are here, thanks to Phil G!

Until next time, SYOY!
