It's Easy Like Sunday Afternoon for Miami Elites

Posted by Maria Arguello

On a rainy Sunday afternoon Yelp Miami's Elite gathered at Level 25 in the Conrad for summer bites, cocktails, and hang over cures. As Miami was being covered in sheets of rain and clouds yelpers still made out in force. The five story windows let in the light despite the dark skies. Vanessa P summed it up best: "Despite the soggy weather, this event was all smiles and sunshine."

Picture 4 Picture 6 Picture 5

Luckily Yelpers didn't let the weather dampen their moods or their appetites. Guests were able to enjoy a variety of summer treats and hangover helpers including Florida seafood ceviche shooters, salmon tatare, melon skewers, truffle mac n cheese, mini cuban fritas, yuca fries, and pulled bbq pork. They washed it down with raspberry, vodka, and champagne cocktails, mimosas, and MGD 64. Of course no meal is complete without dessert and coffee, yelpers designed their own ice cream sundaes, indulged in a dessert station featuring an array of treats such as guava cheesecake and decadent chocolate cake, and ordered hot cups of joe from the coffee bar. Un cafésito is always a plus in yelpers books.

Thanks to MGD 64 for the beers and cute koozies. And of course to the Conrad for the cocktails, mimosas, and amazing buffet.

Life's a Beach for Silicon Valley Elites

3670825300_c13f615b50 Yelp Elites traveled from near and far to Half Moon Bay last Friday night to the historic and haunted Moss Beach Distillery. Guests enjoyed organic vodka cocktails provided by Rain Vodka, and a endless buffet of food including ahi tuna sliders, lamb chops, crab cakes, ribs, clams, cheesecake and fried banana and marshmallows, which was quoted as being "more addictive than crack" by many.

Yelpers cozied up by the fire pits out on the oceanview patio and got a brief glimpse of the sunset peering through the fog, which eventually gave way to a beautiful starry night at the Pacific Ocean.

Houston Elites "Bond" Casino Royale-Style

Posted by Farrah Akhtar

On June 23, 2009, secret agents, spies, assassins and evil villains of the Houston Yelp Elite Squad gathered for an unforgettable night. The mission: to Bond with fellow Elites at the new Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.

Those who made it inside the swanky Casino Royale room (via the secret agent password) were treated to a Bond—James Bond—approved evening. Doned in their snazziest gear, it was all high fives, chants and cheers as Elites engaged in real life poker games—craps, roulette, poker and black jack—provided by the professional staff at iHostPoker. And what's a Bond party without a few cocktails? Bond Guys and Girls indulged in aromatic vino provided by Cameron Hughes Wine, along with Fleming's signature white cosmopolitan and apple martinis prepared with the smooth-tasting Zodiac Vodkashaken, not stirred. Special thank you to Fleming's Operating Partner George Malek and his talented and frienldy staff for serving up the snazzy bevs in record time!

Elites and guests also engaged in a bevvy of tantalizing canapes prepared by Fleming's Chef Joe Gerardi, including beef steak skewers, jumbo shrimp cocktail, sweet chile calamari, crab cake balls, sun-dried tomato-topped salmon and artisan cheeses. For the assassins needing a little spa treatment, Petite Retreat was on site working their magical fingers on those tired bodies with complementary massages.

Guests cashed out at the end of the evening for tickets to the raffle, with prizes including a pair of tickets to see Jenny Lewis courtesy of Warehouse Live (won by Kat G), a week's worth of training to River Oaks Fitness (won by Danielle S), a gift card to Petite Retreat (won by Nadia V) and an iTunes Gift Card (won by David N). And there to capture all those secret spy moments was the Kenny Haner photo booth and more candid shots. Don't forget to check out what yelpers are saying about this Bond-filled evening!

Metro Detroit Yelpers Have a (Beer) Garden Party!

Posted by Mariah C

It was hot, hot hot by Michigan standards, but the best place to chill out last night was with a fantastic crew of Yelpers in the Beer Garden at Ypsilanti's Corner Brewery.

3660192202_fa44dbe4e6 3659379383_6dd7fa16ba

Fresh mini-sunflowers in giant beer steins graced the tables as yelpers tipped their own glasses of Arbor Brewing Company beer, including a new Strawberry Blonde that was a definite hit! To add to the Garden Party atmosphere, there were plenty of summery items like fake birds, butterflies and bubbles (in the shape of ice cream cones) and Yelp balloons were all around!

Yelp Elites and guests munched on Corner's own *very* fresh bruschetta, and sampled chocolates and confections from local chocolatier Carillon Chocolates.  Corner owner Matt Greff (who had just returned from DC -- providing beer for a celebration for our local congressman!) led two separate groups of yelpers on a tour of the brewing facilities.

Door prizes abounded, with several yelpers claiming massages, Sam S scored a certificate for a mani-pedi (he swears he's using it himself), and new Elite Squad member Darin E and his wife Mari were proud holders of weekend passes to the Rothbury Festival.  Dylan, anyone?

As night fell over the garden, there was plenty of laughter along with the food and beer.

If you weren't able to be there in person, check out the reviews and photos.

Brooklyn Yelp's Shindig at South 4th!

Posted by peter d.

Last night Brooklyn Yelp braved the rain (seriously, when is it going to stop raining every day?) and blew off some steam at South 4th Bar and Café!

Picture 3 Picture 4

From the moment Molly C and Lisa A arrived (early), it was a party. Beer judge in training Ben C gave the delicious Troegs Sunshine Pilsner and Southern Tier IPA the stamp of approval, as everyone enjoyed a pint or three. And who doesn’t love them some Jameson?

The plates from Murray’s Cheese Shop and the pastries from Ceci Cela were a huge hit too!

Picture 8 Picture 7

An ENORMOUS thanks to Aaron, Marshall, Kim, Vance and Patrick of South 4th; they made the party happen!

Whether or not you were able to make it out, be sure to read the reviews, peep some pics, and check out what people are saying!

Yelp's Old Town Revival at Davis Street Tavern!

Posted by Don Bourassa

Yelpers showed up in impressive force to the Davis Street Tavern in Old Town Portland to take part in an Old Town Revival - Yelp Style.  A crowd of 110+ Yelp Elites and guests converged on this oasis of good food and drink to partake in some Yelp Elite fun!

Davis street elite 140  Swag

The Davis Street Tavern sure does know how to make a drink. Yelpers were treated to three high-end cocktails made with Maker's Mark bourbon, all delicious: whiskey smashes, old fashioneds, and mint julep snow cone shots! Yes, you heard that right! Snow cones! Along with the Westland Lane Pinot and delicious ice cold Trumer Pilsner, well, let's just say there was no shortage of tasty beverages! While the amazing servers passed effortlessly through the throng of Yelpers and guests with trays chock full of drinks, the Elites were hard pressed to decide: "which to sample first?" Chris L, unable to choose, just grabbed one of each.

Aww yeah! Davis street elite 163

Next came some trays of gourmet passed bites such as sausage with fruit compote and a selection of meats en croute. The delicious nibbles did a great job of complimenting the insanely tasty (and potent) cocktails.

A few lucky folks (including Chloë W’s +1) walked away with tickets to the Best of Oregon Food and Wine Festival (look for Davis Street Tavern at the festival!!) and a couple of Elites like Nader A walked off with some bottles of Maker's Mark! Not too shabby, if you ask us!

A mighty thanks goes out to Christopher, Blake and Gretchen from the Davis Street Tavern for throwing a downright amazing event, to the ever-generous Cody from Maker's Mark, to the folks over at Westland Lane for the amazing Pinot, and to Dan over at Gambrinus for the Trumer Pilsner! Thanks to Joshua C and DMK for taking photos! Also a huge and everlasting thanks to you, the Portland Elite Squad, for making Yelp what it is.

Check out the reviews and photos of the event! It was a good one!

If you were not able to attend the event, not to worry. There are plenty more in the works. Keep your eye on your email in-box for fun giveaways and more Elite Events to come.

Until next time...

London Elites Create, Concoct & Celebrate

Posted by Laura Nestler

Whoop whoop! Let's hear it for the launch of London's Yelp Elite! (And celebrate with a party, naturally!)

In honour of London’s Yelp Elite inauguration, The nYne Lounge bartenders competed to created a Yelp cocktail to remain permanently on their menu. And naturally, Elites and +1s had the enviable task of taste-testing every concoction and judging their worthiness. Pete M and his bartenders put on one hell of a show mixing, shaking, and schmoozing our 70+ yelpers. Names like ‘Yelp if you want to go faster,’ and ‘Yelpilini,’ got a roar of approval, but the overall winner and the proud creator of the first ever Yelp cocktail was Steve W with the ‘Yelpalicious.'

Steve W winner reduced Shot glasses reduced Rob and Phil reduced

The stunning nYne Lounge had an electrifying vibe with yelpers enjoying healthy snacks, listening to the smooth sounds of DJ Leisuregroove and of course sampling the glorious cocktails.

Molly K had this to say: "Yelp-a-LICIOUS indeed, I've never felt more proud to be a yelper."

Laura & Sam reduced The guys reduced Omaroka reduced

Chris H felt the need to yelp his love for the venue: “I loved its big, comfy chairs, it's free pool tables, it's spaciousness, and its friendly, funny and cool bar staff.”

The highlight of the event had to be Richie D and his incredible flair show to conclude the night. His bottle spinning skills wowed the audience and stunned many into disbelief as he spun, tricked and flicked his way into Yelp folklore. Indeed, the ‘Boomerang Straw' just might go down in Yelp history.

A big thank you goes out to Pete M and the nYne Lounge for letting us take over their beautiful bar, Sarah S for snapping us a wealth of great shots, and to everyone who came for creating such an unforgettable inaugural London Elite Party. Here's to the next one!

A Night in Yelp-y-wood: Elite Event at Suburban World

Posted by Sarah Peterson

Nearly 80 Elite Yelpers and their guests came out in for an evening of Hollywood-like extravaganza at the Suburban World Theater in Uptown on Thursday evening for an Elite event at the Solstice Film Festival's opening night.

With impersonators like Napolean Dynamite, Jack Sparrow and Cher as well as fire dancers and jugglers, it was a red carpet evening. Not only were Yelpers treated to a fine selection of complimentary Budweiser beers and an array of yummy appetizers, they also recieved All-Access passes for the entire film festival!

Good times were had by all as they were able to mingle in the seldom seen venue of Suburban World. After the party, Solstice treat us to a screeing of Don McKay...and, wow, was that an interesting dark comedy!

In addition, 5 lucky yelpers won 4 passes each to the screening of 500 Days of Summer. Talk about a silver screen evening!

Happy Yelpaversary in Austin!

It's been at least a couple of years now since we got all fancy here in Austin and cranked up the local formal Yelp community. And everyone loves a celebration, right? Well, you can be certain that the folks Finn & Porter do, as they rolled out the red carpet for the local Yelp Elite Squad to sample some of the best prime rib, sushi, porterhouse and more that they could muster. Mix in some Makers Mark, massages on the eighth-floor spa, music from the Dime Store Poets and some fun and festive giveaways and there was more to get excited about than cocktail attire. Along the way there were vintage suits, swanky dresses, and all sorts of hep cats kicking it to the vibe of one another!

Interview with Pop Fizz Daily's Sara Glassman:

Posted by Sarah Peterson

Sara, you're known around the Twin Cities for being a fashion maven. So clue us in: what are your favorite boutiques in the Cities?

Naturally, that depends on the mission. For affordable inspiration, it’s all about Picky Girl in St. Paul. For jeans and tees, we have spots that are just as awesome and informed as New York boutiques such as Bluebird, Covered and Parc. I am a bit of a shoe snob – Pumpz & Company carries my favorite line Belle by Sigerson Morrison and just wait until you see the Mukluks for winter. Ladyslipper has lower prices and awesome style, including Loeffler Randall boots. For MN designers, I like Cliché, because designers do size runs and you still get the charm of buying local.
Right now, shopping for clothes is all about sales. I think In Toto’s end-of-season deals are incredible. Their “leftover” merch is always really awesome. There’s also a kind of hidden pop-up outlet on Fridays and Saturdays right now at Excelsior & Grand. They have dresses and cashmere at ridiculous markdowns.

With being a woman-about-town, what are your favorite things about the Cities?

Here’s the random top ten: People watching around Lake Calhoun, salted caramel ice cream from Izzy’s, dry cleaning on wood hangers from Mulberry, vegan scones from the Wedge, being so close to the home of Aveda (and an organic beauty epicenter), perfume browsing at Cherie, Nelle handbags (www.nellehandbags.com), baliage hair color at Extrados, the heirloom grain salad from Zelo and Bacio, the Walker Art Center and the Mary Tyler Moore legacy, which continues to inspire everygirl.

What would be your last meal on earth (or at least in the Twin Cities)?

Heidi’s in Minneapolis. There are other spots with better atmosphere and service, but Heidi’s has the best food. In the winter, the vegetarian Bolognese is my favorite dish ever.

Do you have a favorite dive bar?

I’m not a big dive bar gal and not a beer drinker. But I love a lounge, in fact, I generally prefer them to eating at a proper restaurant. Right now, I’m into the speakeasy feel at Bradstreet and sitting outside at Barrio drinking a Trinity margarita (or several). I generally prefer the opposite of the dive bar: Drinking a Valentino and eating fries at La Belle Vie

Everybody's love a happy hour -- what's your favorite?

The happy hours right now are rather excellent – you can go chi chi on the cheap! Porter & Frye has a great deal--50 percent off wines-by-the-glass and the bar menu (mini-cheesburgers included). I have been known to frequent Masa and Chambers too.

And finally, would you mind cluing us into your hidden gem of the Cities?

This isn’t in theory hidden, but lunch at Cosmos. It’s off the downtown trek a bit, but it’s quiet and you can get a delicious salad or burger plus an amuse bouche and truffle for the same price as dining at one of lesser power lunch spots.

For fashion, GH2 in Northeast has the cutest stuff at the best prices. Part-consignment and part new, I’ve found J Brand jeans for $30 and some high-end pieces way marked down.

Thanks for great insight into some fabulous places around the Cities. I'm sure people will be following your lead and yelping about them soon!

Art, Fresh Bites, Wine, and of course Chocolate in Wine Country!

Posted by Jessica T

A big thanks to everyone who made it out to first official North Bay Yelp Elite event at Maisonry on Sunday It was exciting and inspiring to see so many fabulous yelpers come from all over the Bay area to celebrate the North Bay and wine country.  Especially on such a gorgeous day. Maison

Many yelpers took advantage of the picturesque scenic winery drive and made a day of it. Andrew T and Bill B cruised over to the event from the East Bay and pulled up to historic Maisonry to the friendly faces of CPA Valet head Matt and his crew  (Matt even grew up in Yountville himself!). With Yelp's own Connie C there to check everyone in, yelpers like Jennifer N  and Ieesha M walked through a sand colored stone entrance into a "living art gallery," where they were warmly greeted with a refreshing glass of Blackbird Vineyard Rose. After exploring the artfully curated interior of Maisonry, boasting unique pieces such as a "metal bikini," or "silver skull with the aviator glasses" Natalye S and longtime friend Brian G made their way over to the impressive TCHO chocolate spread (which as they pointed out, is actually vegan!) to feast on dark dreamy bliss. Sun beaming brightly, yelpers were beckoned into Maisonry's stunning sculpture garden to gather, mingle and relax. Kicking back among the big oak trees, Nique F and other yelpers assembled around and chatted at Maisonry's long rustic table, which "blended in seamlessly with the landscape."  Tcho

Amongst the fire pit and eclectic sculptures, guests were able to visit the various wine stations, where enthusiastic Maisonry staff were pouring incredible local wines from: Blackbird Vineyards, Tor Kenward Family Wines, Lail Vineyards, Renteria Wines, and Pedras Wine Company. Savoring the taste of each wine, yelpers were even able to converse with Maisonry owner and Blackbird Vineyard founder Michael Polenske as well as Maisonry's Gallery Direcotry - Barbara Hennings-Huep.

In between chocolate bites, and swoon worthy wine sips, yelpers were passed fresh bites, from Ross based M Woodward Catering's menu - including a lip-biting assortment of dishes such as Miniature Tostadas with Seared Hamachi and Roasted Tomatillo Salsa. Miniature Fried Chicken Sandwiches, Grilled Filet Mignon on Crisp Potato Pancakes, Baby Artichokes Fried in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and more.  Eric L was so smitten with the chicken sliders that he helped himself to five, courtesy of the lovely Ligaya T, who was on hand to make sure everyone had a chance to sample it all.  Himachi

Sascha O, Molly B, and Mandy L, amongst a slew of other yelpers spent the rest of the event, lounging beneath the shade, taking pictures, and enjoying the flow of conversation which continued well into until Sunday dusk. Le sigh.

Seattle's Yelp Elite get Hoppy at the Big Al Brewfest Elite Event!

Posted by Katie Scharer

What's could possibly be more fun than a beer festival at one of Seattle's greatest craft breweries? Why, a private Yelp Elite beer festival at one of Seattle's greatest craft breweries, of course! Yesterday afternoon was a blast when the Emerald City's Yelp Elite drank in the good at Yelp Seattle's very own Big Al Brewfest!

DSC02091  IMG_6313  IMG_6290

Beer flowed freely as Elites and their guests tried several of the local brewery's craft beers. Christine S seemed to think that owner "Noelle was a mind reader - she always came by with The. Exact. Beer. she was about to get up to go try." Big Al himself poured beer and gave tours of the brewery. Party goers were able to chat and ask questions of the man behind the beer.

DSC02077  DSC02044  DSC02041

The highlight of the festival was quite possibly the 5 Star Ale, a special beer that Big Al brewed just for this Seattle's Yelp Elite. A beer brewed with jalepeno, serrano, & habanero it packed a punch and was so delicious that they'll be pouring it at the Washington Brewer's Festival this weekend! Evan B knew that "the whole 5 Star Chili Ale probably threw some unsuspecting people for a loop at first... but man was it good! Chili beers are such a challenge to get balanced and drinkable, and this one pulled it off perfectly." For a list of Seattle bars & restaurants where Big Al's beer is available on tap, check out their website!

DSC02126  DSC02115  DSC02112

If the beer wasn't enough, Dante of Dante's Inferno Dogs supplied those attending some of his Fantastic dogs... and boy, were they delicious. Topped with the works: cream cheese, mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut, onions, jalepenos, and pepperocinis they were damn near perfect! Alicia O loved the dogs. According to her, "Sweet chili sauce jalapenos and cream cheese = MmmmMm." Cathy S was the happy winner of a Big Al Growler filled with the beer of her choice (which happened to be a lager) well Elite event newbie Calvin Y and Jodi S took home some really cool T-shirts.

A huge Thank You goes out to Big Al, Noelle, & Eddie @ Big Al's and Dante of Dante's Inferno Dogs for making this event such a success! Thanks for Ron M for snappin' pics. For photographic evidence and reviews, check out our flickr & the event listing!

Until Next Week (June 24th to be specific!), Seattle...

Yelp Denver Parties Like It's 1989

On Friday night Denver Yelp took over the Hi-Dive and experienced a blast from the past, otherwise known as 80s Prom. Everyone showed up in their finest Flock of Seagulls hair-dos, sequined dresses and Miami Vice attire, making this one righteous party!

Yvonne C and David S were crowned Denver's king and queen and shared the requisite slow dance. One lucky yelper won tickets to The Dinner Detective and several other took home season passes to Film on the Rocks. Firefly Sweet Tea vodka made a perfect prom punch that helped get everyone out on the dance floor to show us their best break dance moves to the music spun by DJ B and DJ The Postman all night long. Plus, Sputnik provided a variety of sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and even corndogs to balance out the evening. It was, like, totally awesome.

And we couldn't have had such a beautiful evening without our Prom Committee, Yvonne C, Laura L, Sherri S, Jay B, Maria A (all the way from Miami), and Stephanie I (from San Fran). Thanks to all their hard work we had totally rad decorations, including a balloon arch.

Check out the pictures of the evening captured by our very own Hans O and don't forget to read the reviews of the unforgettable event.

Until next time, SYOY (See You On Yelp)!

Phoenix Yelpers Rock Out With Ear Candy!

On Thursday night, June 11th, Valley yelpers took over Martini Ranch and rocked out all night long.  They came out in full force to help raise awareness for Ear Candy, a super cool non-profit devoted to creating and supporting music programs for kids.

Yelpers were welcomed with cocktails from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and the liquid love continued in the form of Cruz Tequila and Steamworks Brewing Company's Steam Engine Lager and Third Eye Pale Ale.  Food partners went above and beyond as well... there was something for every palate thanks to Arcadia Tavern, Butter & Me, Mamma Mia, S'Bistro, Sweet Republic, and Wildflower Bread Company.  Also helping in the sweets department were boxes of Landrin chocolates sprinkled around the tables of the venue and placed in the gift bags that yelpers walked away with.

Snapboothrocks2 IMG_0801 Snapboothrocks3 Snapboothrocks1 ThomasAmber IMG_0806 Philcherrey IMG_0817

Local bands played throughout the evening and according to Dave B, "the line-up (Sketching in Stereo, The Market, Surfside IV, Shawn Johnson and the Foundation, Black Carl, and What Laura Says Thinks and Feels) was really a current who's who of Phoenix bands." And as if that wasn't enough, Fender joined the fun and set up Rock Band for yelpers like Thomas S and Amber W to show off their rockstar talent!

A handful of lucky yelpers went home with rockin' raffle prizes including a gift basket from Just Because, gift cards from Pasta Brioni, Suddenly Slimmer Spa, and Harold's Corral, and a Rock Band 2 set.

Documenting the night was the SnapBooth Entertainment photobooth where yelpers took full advantage of the boxes of props to pose in front of the camera. You can see what went on behind the curtain here but make sure you use the secret code to enter: (Event ID: Yelp / Password: Yelp123). Gary M of four white walls photography and Tyson C of Tyson Crosbie Photography were in the crowds snapping shots too. Check out Gary's photos here and Tyson's photos here.

Additional partners for the evening were adRover, Desert Living Magazine, and zcab (making their debut in the city just for us!).  If you missed out on the fun, or want to relive the memories, check out the reviews, and feel free to chime in as well.  Thanks again for rockin' out!

Vancouver Elites Bond--with 007 Flair

Posted by Crystal H

Last night, Vancouver Elite's and their guests feasted their eyes on the high flames of the sautée station as they judged 3 James Bond inspired martini's, ultimately choosing "Diamonds Are Forever" for Shakin' Not Stirred's new feature drink. Between sips and bites, Elites dolled themselves up to have their Bond-esque portraits snapped

_ONE3842  _ONE3846  _ONE3853

U'Luvka shook up the night pouring Vodka martinis that went down smooth and was the definite star of the show.  And Elite's worked at spying some Bond Trivia answers for some swank: Rachael T took home the grand prize -- a $50 gift certificate (from Shakin' Not Stirred, our glamourous hosts for the evening), Raymond O scored 2 tickets to Stand-Up for Change (Boundless Film's Comedy Night) and a Polar Ice prize pack went to Scott B.

And what did we all learn from our Trivial Pursuits? That the 00 in 007 is given to members of the Elite 00 Section and are licensed to kill...or in our case licensed to "bond."

Toga, Toga, Boston!

DSCN1596 Elite yelpers do not mess around! When asked to don their sauciest sheets and show up at Ivy Restaurant for some Italian tapas and good company, Elite Bostonians rounded up some lovely guests and came out in droves! With a line forming down the block before the doors even opened, togas of blue and red, printed florals and even some neon streamed down Temple Street! Once inside, "Everyone let loose, danced, drank, and partied like there was no tomorrow," according to Erin M.

The night started with glasses of red, white and rose provided by MS Walker and Ruby Wines. Tasty tipples from our (very very) good friends at St. Germain were sipped by all, as Arestia R proclaims they "were the epitome of summer - drinks fit for the gods!" The music was bumpin' thanks to our music maven K.C. Hallett, and it wasn't long before the floor was full of booty-shaking fun!

Ivy food Tasty nibbles were noshed all night long courtesy of Chef Marc and his amazing staff at Ivy, with most oohs and ahhs being directed at tray after tray of nibbles from the kitchen! Or as Quinn E puts it, "The snacks were delicious, fancy steak on a fresh potato chip with gorgonzola stands out!"

A big, big thank you to our host, Ivy Restaurant and their attentive staff, Lauren, Augusto, Doug, Patima, Ryan and Randy! Even co-owners Will and Patrick dropped in to say hello! Hats off to St. Germain, MS Walker and Ruby Wines for providing the liquid courage needed to come out and party in public in our finest sheets! And finally, a high-five to Peter D, our Brooklyn Community Manager for coming up to help us out!

Got something to say about the festivities? Add your own two cents here! Check out some hawt photos, taken by the newest Boston Elite (who comes to us from D.C.) Karman L, and peep even more pics here! For gossip on wardrobe malfunctions, after-party mayhem and general merriment, the offical talk thread's got the scoop!

And the winner of our Top Toga Contest? The lovely lady pictured here wearing green! PM me for your prize, lucky!

Good times had by all and there's only more to come!

See you soon, Boston!

The Yelp New York Passport To Chelsea Launch Party!

All across the city locals were feeling a certain buzz in the air last night and a irresistible pull towards a little neighborhood on the Hudson that we call Chelsea. Stirring on 22nd street, at the slightly hidden but ever regal Chelsea Art Museum, Yelp Elites and Internet Week junkies gathered en masse to celebrate a neighborhood famous for culture, galleries, gorgeous men, brown stones and general fabulousness.

While this trip required no plane ticket, guests were lined up to pick up their exclusive passport to a week of discounts to some of the top-rated Yelp businesses of Chelsea. Touring the jaw-dropping exhibits on all three floors of the museum, Payam Z took in a performance by the Rachel Stenn dance group before ducking over to rest his tired toes on some eco-friendly Italian designed stools. Downstairs in the tasting galleries Andrea L snuck out some ”miraculous amazing red velvety cupcake goodness” courtesy of Cafeteria while Lora C swooned over the “delicious scallop ceviche and chicken casseroles from Crema.” The Half King’s mini burgers, Matsuri’s steamy shumai and Qdoba’s salsa tasting bar kept the New Yorkers yelpin' for more!

For the thirsty travelers, Crema paired their Pastel Azteca with a luscious lemon basil margarita and Orange V kept Jennifer B from getting too parched. The Domaine de Canton table got going with ginger cocktails, Sake2Me started guests of right with flights and Honest Tea kept people honestly hydrated between boozy beverages!

Thanks for coming out last night everyone and let’s hope that today when Jamel O gets to the airport for his vacation he doesn’t confuse his Passport to Chelsea with his real passport at the ticket counter!

Scan the photos here, leave a review and jump in on Talk before those passports expire!

East Bay Elites Discover The Art of the Cocktail at Bijou

Posted by Ligaya T

Every new episode of the Yelp Elite show has its surprises and joys, but what's been consistent is our amazing ability to decimate the bar. Thanks to Bijou Restaurant & Bar and their talented band of mixologists East Bay Elites have finally met our match!

Combining small-batch spirits and fine liqueurs with super fresh ingredients, they took muddling and shaking to a whole new level. The array of concoctions was astounding.  Even Bijou regular, Linda M, expanded her cocktail repertoire and knowledge of the drink making process.Bijou-h7

Not only did the bar pull out all the stops, but the kitchen spoiled us silly!  Serving platter upon platter of salmon tartare and prosciutto wrapped sBijou-h6callops on radicchio, we'd have to agree with Veronica G when she declared: "the head chef brought his A++ game with his offerings."   Newcomer Jen R was uber impressed with the carrot cake from Hayward's own Black & White Bakery, while Ieesha M satisfied her sweet tooth with the red velvet cake and sweet cornbread Bijou-v1(grandma's recipe!). We have the feeling they'll be back to an Elite event again.

Three cheers for Ben, Jay and the awesome crew at Bijou, we've never felt so welcomed and indulged. Josefina and Salvador of Black & White, we loved your baked goodies, and you'll definitely see us in the shop soon!

Of course, you can't miss shots of all the action from photographer, Nick Sebastian. Get the scoop from the Elite's themselves, reviews of the event here. As Ahmed S notes, "I would have never ventured out here had it not been for Yelp". Indeed, it's our intrepid community members (like YOU) that should be recognized for pointing us in the direction of gems like these. Cheers to yelpers, far and wide!

Catch ya next month for our next adventure in the East Bay...
