After a series of hints describing the secret location of East Bay's "Miracle Party", Elites and sidekicks were thrilled to convene in Uptown Oakland's hip new spot, Somar Bar & Lounge, to kick off the weekend with expertly crafted libations and great beats! Greeted at the door by lovely Michelle B and Jessica T, guests were given a miracle berry tablet which temporarily alters our sour taste bud receptors so everything tastes sweet. And that was the start to the flavor trippin' madness...
All around the room were bowls of organic Farm Fresh to You citrus fruits, Sour Patch Kids and bags of salt and vinegar PopChips to test the effects of the berry. It became clear to Esther Y and Keith L as they were sucking down lemons and limes, that they did indeed do the trick! After popping the pill, Meg T admitted to feeling a bit like Alice in Wonderland so you can imagine just how bizaare the experience was for Rae'esah N at her very first event. But like Kathy D who pounded straight white vinegar, she tackled a shot like a pro! Pilar D took a few moments break from the vinegar fest to have her truths revealed in tarot. Yep, silliness and debauchery is in the future!
Hats off to the whole crew at Somar! We felt so welcomed, and really appreciated chill aura of the staff all while pouring awesome drinks left and right. Thanks to Farm Fresh to You and PopChips for providing us with yummy snackables and treats! And of course, much gratitude for this cool experience goes to Penny at Miracle Frooties, who donates proceeds of fruit sales to charitable causes.
