More Yelp in Your Pocket

In the beginning, there was Yelp. Then, we went mini with Yelp Mobile to bring all those great Yelp reviews to your cell. And now, for all you iPhone lovers out there, there is Yelp for your iPhone.
Use the app to search for places to eat, sleep and shop with a special iPhone twist: find places near you. We've got quick links to bars, restaurants, drug stores and coffee nearby. And if you want to search for something specific that's close (burritos, Irish pubs, gas stations) we've got you covered there, too.
Once you've got your list of businesses to peruse, you can filter them down by price, neighborhood, distance and whether they are open now. So when you are starving for a slice at 2 AM, impress your friends as your deftly find the nearest open pizza joint. And of course, you can read reviews to make sure you and your friends will be not only full, but happy with your pick.
We're excited about Yelp for the iPhone, and hope you are too. Download it now on the iPhone App Store.

There should be a way to sort by proximity. Results are returned randomly, it seems. Also, the "Bars" category exists on the iPhone, but when I edit a local bar to include that locale, "Bar" doesn't appear as a possible selection.
Finally, a sports bar categorized as "Nightlife" and "Restaurant" shows up on the iPhone when searched under nightlife, but not under restaurant.
Hope that was clear. :)

I was so looking forward to this app (since Yelp on MobileSafari is no fun), but was disappointed to find out it does not support iPod touch (i.e. it is marked in the App Store as requiring iPhone, so you can't even download it on a touch). For the love of Yelp, why not? The iPod touch has location services based on WiFi networks, and while it may not be precise, it is certainly good enough for finding nearby businesses.
Please free the Yelp app for the iPod touch!

The Yelp app for the iPhone is one of the better apps I've downloaded so far from the App Store, but it seems to have some weird quirks. Mainly, when selecting "Find nearby restaurants" to your current location only seems to bring up a handful of restaurants, not actually the ones closest to you. They also don't seem to be in order of distance.
Another feature I'd like to see is having the ability to view my yelp bookmarks. That way, I could look up the information of places I have listed in my Yelp account. The ability to leave reviews would be nice, but typing super long reviews on the iPhone might be a pain.
Keep up the good work.

Nice work guys, I love the Yelp iPhone app it is one of my favorites.
Being able to login to your account and see bookmarks, or even write up a review would be great!

The Yelp iPhone client is pretty nice. It would be nice to be able to actually write up and post reviews from the iPhone client though. In addition to that, when I use the yelp iPhone app to find a businesses address, clicking on that address should take me to the iphone's native gmail application, not the yelp iteration of it.

I only wish I had the ability to leave/create a new review using this App.
